Submission Preflight (hrm-submission)

When to trigger

  • "Submitting tomorrow" — last check before pressing submit on ScholarOne
  • Unsure how to anonymize for double-blind review and what goes on the separate title page
  • Confirming APA style, the data-availability statement, and ORCID are in order
  • Making sure the manuscript will clear the EIC's fit-and-relevance screen, not just the rules

Process facts (source map refreshed 2026-06; re-confirm on the official Wiley author page)

  • Human Resource Management is a Wiley journal (Online ISSN 1099-050X; Print ISSN 0090-4848). Submission is via Wiley ScholarOne / Manuscript Central (检索于 2026-06;以官网为准).
  • Double-blind review: the manuscript must be anonymized (no author names, affiliations, self-identifying citations, or acknowledgments in the main file); author details go on a separate title page uploaded as a distinct file (检索于 2026-06;以官网为准).
  • Editorial screen: the Editor-in-Chief determines whether a paper meets the quality and relevance bar before it is sent to review — papers without a clear scholarly advance and a practical implication are desk-rejected.
  • References: APA style (检索于 2026-06;以官网为准).
  • Data sharing: Wiley's data-availability policy applies; include an appropriate data-availability statement (检索于 2026-06;以官网为准).
  • Editorial team: Co-Editors-in-Chief Fang Lee Cooke (Monash) and Shaun Pichler (Cal State Fullerton; co-EiC from Jan 2025) (verified 2026-06-22 via Wiley; re-verify before submission as the board rotates).
  • Exact word/abstract limits, article-type list, ORCID requirement, and any APC / open-access options are 待核实 — confirm on the live author-guidelines page before submitting.

Preflight checklist

Anonymization & files (double-blind)

  • Main manuscript fully anonymized: no names, affiliations, funding/acknowledgments, or revealing self-citations ("as we showed (Author, 2021)")
  • Separate title page file with all authors, affiliations, ORCIDs, corresponding-author contact
  • File names and document properties do not leak author identity
  • Tables, figures, and any online supplement embedded/uploaded per ScholarOne rules

Style & structure

  • APA references and in-text citations throughout; reference list complete and consistent
  • Abstract within the journal's limit (待核实) and stating the dual contribution
  • Theoretical-model figure matches the hypotheses; exhibits self-contained
  • Level of analysis and constructs labeled consistently
  • Word/page limit respected (待核实); heavy material moved to an online supplement if needed

Declarations & policy

  • Data-availability statement prepared per Wiley policy
  • Ethics / IRB approval and informed-consent statements where human-subjects data are used
  • Conflict-of-interest and funding disclosures complete
  • Confirmed the paper is not under review elsewhere; AI not listed as an author

The screen check (do this last)

  • A reader of the abstract + intro can see both the scholarly advance and the workforce-policy / HRM-practice implication — this is what the EIC gates on

Anti-patterns

  • Submitting a main file that still names the authors or affiliations (breaks double-blind)
  • Treating the title page as part of the anonymized manuscript
  • Non-APA references, or inconsistent in-text citation style
  • Omitting the data-availability statement
  • Submitting to HRM via the wrong portal/journal (confusing it with HRMJ, the UK journal)
  • Ignoring the practice payoff and hoping the rigor alone clears the EIC screen
