A comprehensive guide detailing the stringent standards and best practices for creating high-quality scientific figures for chemistry journals, specifically following the guidelines of the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS). Covers everything from reaction schemes and mechanism diagrams to NMR/IR spectra, crystal structures, and creating impactful Table of Contents (TOC) graphics, ensuring clarity, consistency, and adherence to academic publishing conventions.

Simulates real beta readers who meet a draft cold and under time pressure: a skim gate, a no-lookahead timed read with quit points, next-day recall, and a trust ledger of the implied author. Reports where the reading broke so authors decide what to fix before publishing.
