A comprehensive guide for empirical economists on building a robust argument beyond simple statistical significance. It details how to address alternative economic explanations, test for specification fragility, and establish external validity, helping manuscripts survive demanding academic referee scrutiny.

A comprehensive skill guide designed to help researchers assess the suitability of their economics manuscripts for submission to 《Economic Review》. It covers journal positioning, required empirical rigor, structural expectations (abstract, citation style), common rejection pitfalls, and advice on necessary revisions and alternative journals. This tool is crucial for navigating academic publishing standards in Chinese economics.

A comprehensive guide for structuring and communicating robustness checks in economic policy papers. It teaches authors how to organize tests not as a checklist of alternative specifications, but by the specific threat (e.g., sample size, functional form, pre-trends) they neutralize. The focus must remain on defending the policy-relevant magnitude and confidence interval in the main text, preventing the paper from becoming a mere appendix dump.

This skill provides a comprehensive guide for authors targeting the high-level academic journal, *Finance and Trade Economics*. It helps users assess if their manuscript's scope, methodology, and core contribution align with the journal's specific focus areas (e.g., fiscal policy, budget governance, international trade). It outlines strict submission formats, common rejection pitfalls, and alternative journal suggestions, ensuring academic rigor and proper positioning.

This guide instructs authors on crafting highly targeted and convincing robustness sections for empirical finance papers. Instead of merely adding volume, it teaches the concept of 'subtraction, then precision'—identifying specific alternative explanations (threats) a referee might raise (e.g., reverse causality, omitted variables) and selecting the minimal, most effective check to neutralize each threat. This aligns with the philosophy of top-tier financial journals that value new ideas over superficial testing.

A comprehensive guide for authors revising manuscripts for the Journal of Accounting and Economics (JAE). It details how to structure the point-by-point response letter, emphasizing the critical need to address the editor's concerns and incorporate robust empirical evidence (identification, mechanism, and alternative tests) to satisfy economics-trained reviewers.

A comprehensive guide to structuring robustness checks for behavioral economics and empirical research. Instead of merely listing statistical tests, this framework mandates organizing checks by the underlying behavioral threat (e.g., experimenter demand, multiple comparisons, specification choice). It provides specific guidelines for experiments, observational data, and simulations, ensuring that findings are robust against alternative behavioral explanations and methodological choices.

Provides a comprehensive framework for constructing a robust battery of empirical tests, tailored for high-impact academic journals like JFE. This guide covers alternative measures, specifications, subsamples, and falsification tests, ensuring research findings are highly credible and capable of withstanding rigorous academic scrutiny.

A comprehensive guide for planning and stress-testing empirical analysis in financial intermediation, specifically for high-impact journals. It covers the construction of bank/loan-level panel datasets, defining variables (growth vs. levels), implementing advanced econometric specifications (e.g., fixed effects), and executing substantial robustness checks (placebo periods, alternative clustering). It also guides the planning of reproducible numerical illustrations for theoretical models.

A comprehensive guide for performing rigorous robustness checks on causal estimates in law and economics. It teaches researchers how to pre-empt common referee concerns—such as specification search, alternative treatment dating, or contaminated controls—by implementing targeted, methodologically sound tests to ensure estimates are stable and credible.

This tool helps authors assess if their research manuscript is suitable for the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics (JBES). It evaluates the fit across methodological rigor, economic relevance, time series analysis, and microeconometrics, providing a comprehensive self-check against the journal's high standards and suggesting alternative venues.

A specialized tool for applied microeconomists to assess the suitability of their empirical work—covering labor, education, health, and welfare—for the Journal of Human Resources (JHR). It evaluates the paper's fit, methodological rigor, identification strategy, and policy relevance, providing actionable advice on framing and alternative submissions.
