Skill UI

Guides structured hypothesis generation by combining literature searches, evidence synthesis, competing explanations, and experimental design, with mandatory AI-generated scientific schematics for complete reports.

This skill provides a rigorous framework for defending the methodology of advanced educational research manuscripts, suitable for top-tier academic journals. It guides users through defining research structure across quantitative (e.g., multilevel, quasi-experimental), qualitative (e.g., ethnography, case study), and mixed methods paradigms. Focus areas include addressing rival explanations, ensuring measurement validity, establishing causal claims, and meeting stringent reporting standards (AERA).

This guide provides a rigorous framework for strengthening research design in complex social science manuscripts. It covers methodologies ranging from advanced quantitative causal inference (e.g., DID, IV, RDD) to systematic qualitative case selection and process tracing. It teaches how to defend assumptions, rule out rival explanations, and generalize findings beyond the specific case or setting.

A comprehensive guide for conducting rigorous mechanism analysis in empirical finance and economics papers. It covers three main testing paths (Mediation, Replacing Y, Sub-samples), best practices for causal inference (e.g., recommending Bootstrap over Sobel), and the academic structure required for high-impact journals. Focuses on time consistency, theory grounding, and excluding competing explanations.

A comprehensive methodological guide for conducting exhaustive robustness checks in academic economics manuscripts, particularly for journals requiring high empirical rigor. It provides an exhaustive checklist covering variable replacement, sample window manipulation, advanced identification strategies (like PSM-DID and placebo tests), and crucially, systematically ruling out alternative explanations and confounding factors. Mastering this process is essential for defending research findings against rigorous peer review.

This guide assists users in structuring and rigorously defending the methodological design for demographic manuscripts. It provides detailed guidance on selecting and justifying advanced techniques—including life tables, decomposition analysis, survival models, Age-Period-Cohort (APC) modeling, and microsimulation. It emphasizes critical steps like establishing identification assumptions, addressing causal biases (selection and exposure), and formulating an adjudication test to rule out rival explanations, ensuring the research is methodologically robust.

A comprehensive guide for empirical economists on building a robust argument beyond simple statistical significance. It details how to address alternative economic explanations, test for specification fragility, and establish external validity, helping manuscripts survive demanding academic referee scrutiny.

This guide instructs authors on crafting highly targeted and convincing robustness sections for empirical finance papers. Instead of merely adding volume, it teaches the concept of 'subtraction, then precision'—identifying specific alternative explanations (threats) a referee might raise (e.g., reverse causality, omitted variables) and selecting the minimal, most effective check to neutralize each threat. This aligns with the philosophy of top-tier financial journals that value new ideas over superficial testing.

A comprehensive methodological guide for structuring and defending empirical research designs in the fields of governance, institutions, and public policy. It covers advanced techniques including causal inference (DiD, IV, RDD), comparative case selection, process tracing, and mixed-methods integration. The skill emphasizes moving beyond mere description to robustly identifying contributions and ruling out rival institutional explanations.

A comprehensive self-auditing guide designed for authors preparing manuscripts for submission to top-tier academic journals. It systematically addresses recurring, structural, and critical flaws across theory contribution, econometric identification, mechanism explanation, heterogeneity analysis, and writing conventions. This tool helps authors proactively identify and correct potential weaknesses before facing peer review.

A comprehensive framework for strengthening International Relations (IR) manuscripts, particularly for top-tier journals. It guides researchers through rigorous design requirements, including causal identification in dyadic/network data, structured case selection and process tracing, experimental planning (surveys/conjoint), and formal-empirical linkages. The focus is on ruling out rival explanations and establishing robust empirical claims.

A comprehensive guide to structuring robustness checks for behavioral economics and empirical research. Instead of merely listing statistical tests, this framework mandates organizing checks by the underlying behavioral threat (e.g., experimenter demand, multiple comparisons, specification choice). It provides specific guidelines for experiments, observational data, and simulations, ensuring that findings are robust against alternative behavioral explanations and methodological choices.
