This skill analyzes DNS query logs to detect sophisticated threats such as data exfiltration via DNS tunneling, Domain Generation Algorithm (DGA) usage, and covert Command and Control (C2) channels. It utilizes advanced techniques like entropy analysis, query volume anomaly detection, and subdomain length analysis within SIEM platforms, helping SOC teams identify threats that bypass traditional network security controls.

Utilize the Scapy library in Python to perform deep packet inspection, crafting, sending, and sniffing of various network protocols (TCP, UDP, ICMP, DNS). This skill is essential for analyzing pcap files, implementing advanced security techniques like SYN scans, extracting protocol fields, and detecting network anomalies such as fragmentation or tunneling indicators. Ideal for security researchers, SOC analysts, and penetration testers.

A comprehensive guide to deploying and configuring osquery across diverse endpoints (Windows, macOS, Linux). This tool allows security teams to gather deep, SQL-based insights into endpoint state, including running processes, network connections, system configuration, and installed software. It is essential for threat hunting, compliance auditing, and building centralized fleet visibility.

This script performs statistical analysis on Zeek connection logs (conn.log) to detect Command and Control (C2) beaconing patterns. It leverages the ZAT library to load data into Pandas DataFrames, calculates inter-arrival time statistics, and flags connections with low standard deviation relative to the mean. This technique is crucial for network threat hunting and security incident investigation when identifying malicious, periodic callbacks.

This skill analyzes proxy access logs, DNS query logs, and network flow data to identify unauthorized SaaS and cloud services (Shadow IT). It uses Python and pandas to aggregate traffic, classify domains against known SaaS categories, and calculate risk scores based on data volume and user count. Ideal for conducting thorough security audits and generating actionable remediation reports.

This guide details a structured threat hunting methodology designed to proactively detect sophisticated spearphishing campaigns. It instructs users on correlating indicators across email logs, endpoint telemetry (EDR), and network data (SIEM) to identify targeted threats, supporting incident response and security posture improvement.

This tool provides comprehensive network traffic analysis capabilities by querying the Arkime API. Users can search sessions, download PCAPs for forensics, detect sophisticated threats like C2 beaconing (via jitter/interval analysis), spot DNS tunneling patterns, and flag connections to known-bad TLS certificate issuers. Ideal for security assessment and incident investigation.

Implements a robust, multi-factor model to calculate the criticality score of IT assets. The scoring incorporates data sensitivity, business function dependency, regulatory scope, and network exposure, moving beyond simple CVSS scores. The resulting 1-5 criticality tier directly modifies vulnerability remediation Service Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring security resources are focused on the organization's most valuable and risky systems.

This comprehensive guide details best practices for securing a ClickHouse deployment. It covers essential security measures including role-based access control (RBAC) for granular user permissions, implementing row-level security for multi-tenancy, configuring network IP restrictions, enabling TLS encryption, and setting up detailed audit logging. Use this when hardening a production ClickHouse instance or enforcing strict data governance.

A comprehensive guide for researchers to ensure network security findings are reproducible and verifiable. It covers techniques for freezing volatile environments (targets, networks, toolchains), anonymizing sensitive data traces, maintaining a detailed claims ledger, and ethically stating limitations.
