Skill UI

This skill acts as a comprehensive router for manuscripts aiming at the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science (JAMS). It guides researchers through the complex, multi-stage process of academic writing—from initial topic selection and theoretical development to data analysis, writing style, and revision strategies (R&R). Use it to diagnose bottlenecks or determine the optimal sequence of specialized marketing science skills needed for high-impact publication.

This comprehensive router guides authors through the entire manuscript lifecycle for submission to the Journal of Marketing (JM). It is not a replacement for specialized skills but provides a structured path, helping users determine the next necessary step—from initial topic selection and theory development to data analysis, contribution framing, and rebuttal drafting. It emphasizes ensuring the research has substantive, real-world managerial or societal relevance.

This guide helps researchers evaluate if a marketing topic meets the high academic standards of top journals like the Journal of Marketing Research (JMR). It provides a dual-bar test, requiring both methodological rigor (e.g., causal identification, experimental design) and substantive contribution (new insights). It also helps distinguish the appropriate venue among major marketing journals (JM, MS, JCR).

This skill guides researchers through a rigorous two-part assessment process: first, confirming the substantive importance of a marketing phenomenon; and second, verifying that the question is modelable using formal analytical or structural econometric techniques. It helps determine the ideal target journal (e.g., Marketing Science, JCR, JMR) by evaluating the core contribution and required methodology, ensuring the research aligns with specific academic standards and counterfactual requirements.
