Skill UI

This advanced skill provides a rigorous framework for assessing whether an organizational or management research manuscript is suitable for highly selective, theory-driven journals like the Academy of Management Journal (AMJ). It guides authors on necessary theoretical framing, methodological rigor (e.g., endogeneity, causal inference), structural improvements, and common pitfalls to avoid, significantly improving submission quality and maximizing acceptance chances.

This guide helps researchers determine if their applied microeconomics work meets the rigorous standards of the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics (AEJ: Applied). It serves as a pre-submission checklist, detailing the required depth of causal identification (e.g., RCTs, DiD, IV), methodological robustness, expected manuscript structure, and avoiding common desk-reject pitfalls. Essential for high-quality academic writing.

This guide helps researchers strategically assess whether their empirical microeconomics project is best suited for the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics (AEJ: Applied). It provides a structured framework to test the project's causal design, scope, and cross-field appeal, ensuring the question is 'AEJ: Applied-shaped' rather than being too general (AER) or too specialized (Field Journal).

A comprehensive guide for drafting and revising economic policy manuscripts, particularly the abstract and introduction. It teaches authors how to convert complex causal estimates into clear, actionable policy takeaways while adhering to rigorous academic house style, ensuring claims are calibrated and non-overstated.

This skill provides a rigorous framework for political scientists to pre-test their research projects against the standards of the American Journal of Political Science (AJPS). It evaluates whether a topic has a sharp, generalizable question, demonstrates strong causal identification, provides a substantive theoretical contribution, and fits the appropriate submission type (Article, Research Note, Correspondence). Use this before committing significant time to writing.

This framework guides researchers on how to elevate an academic literature review from a mere annotated bibliography into a cohesive, argumentative piece. It teaches authors to impose a central 'spine'—such as a taxonomy, causal mechanism, or set of analytical levels—to structure the subfield's existing work, thereby generating new insights and defining the field's future agenda. Essential for advanced academic writing and synthesizing large bodies of research.

A comprehensive guide for structuring research manuscripts for top-tier academic journals (e.g., ASQ). It details the rigorous requirements for both qualitative (e.g., grounded theory, ethnography) and quantitative (e.g., causal inference, multilevel modeling) designs. Learn how to ensure theoretical fit, establish credibility, and design against alternative explanations to maximize the impact and rigor of your work.

A comprehensive guide for transforming complex regression results into self-contained, highly legible figures suitable for top-tier academic journals. It focuses on best practices for visualizing causal inference results (DID, RDD, IV), ensuring that the main findings can be understood by the reader simply by viewing the figure, independent of the surrounding text. Ideal for researchers in econometrics and social sciences.

This tool simulates the rigorous editorial process required for high-level journals in finance and economics. It guides authors to transform vague, policy-report-like drafts into precise, academically robust manuscripts. Key functions include eliminating empty-significance phrases, replacing generalizations with causal mechanisms, standardizing tense and person, structuring paragraphs with clear thesis statements, and ensuring all claims are supported by specific evidence and economic interpretation.

This framework guides researchers on transforming raw empirical crime findings into robust, field-level theoretical contributions for academic journals. It mandates the explicit definition of the causal mechanism, scope conditions, and observable implications, ensuring the work moves beyond simple correlation to make a significant theoretical argument.

This comprehensive routing skill guides users through the complex process of selecting the most appropriate English-language academic journal for their manuscript. It acts as a high-level meta-guide, moving beyond single-journal profiles. Users classify their work based on its contribution type (e.g., causal effect, new theory), methodological shape (e.g., structural, field experiment), target discipline (e.g., finance, marketing), and ultimate submission goal (e.g., top-5 venue). It provides actionable advice for re-framing and optimizing fit.

A comprehensive guide for developing rigorous theory for Information Systems Research (ISR) manuscripts. It outlines two primary theorizing modes—Behavioral (focusing on explicit causal mechanisms centered on the IT artifact) and Analytical (deriving propositions from economic/equilibrium models). The framework emphasizes making the theory sociotechnical by bridging traditional IS silos and ensuring the IT artifact is the load-bearing theoretical element, moving beyond simple correlation to mechanistic insight.
