This guide outlines the rigorous standards for writing top-tier distributed systems conference papers. It details the mandatory narrative arc—moving from an operational pain point to a named design principle—and emphasizes that every claim must be supported by precise, measured evidence (e.g., percentiles and specific workloads) rather than relying on superlatives or vague adjectives. It also provides guidance on structuring the argument, budgeting page space, and designing figures as core evidence.

A comprehensive guide for positioning research in distributed-computing theory, specifically for conferences like PODC. It details how to move beyond topic listings to defining a precise 'delta' by comparing models, bounds, and costs against prior art. Crucial advice includes distinguishing between different synchrony models, fault tolerances, and handling self-citation in double-blind reviews.

A comprehensive guide for positioning academic papers in highly competitive technical fields, particularly networking and distributed systems. Learn how to systematically sweep major venues (SIGCOMM, NSDI, MobiCom, etc.), rigorously prove every prior work via dblp/ACM DL, and articulate clear novelty by distinguishing core mechanisms from mere engineering polish. Essential for top-tier conference submissions.
