A comprehensive guide to building automated Indicator of Compromise (IOC) enrichment pipelines within Splunk Enterprise Security. This process integrates multiple external threat feeds (STIX/TAXII, CSV, APIs) into normalized KV Store collections. By correlating these enriched threat indicators against live security events using advanced lookup searches, SOC teams can significantly reduce manual triage time and automatically identify potential security incidents.

This guide details advanced techniques for authorized security assessments, focusing on forced browsing. It helps testers discover hidden administrative pages, unprotected APIs, and configuration files by systematically enumerating URLs and challenging application access control mechanisms. Techniques involve using tools like ffuf and Gobuster for comprehensive path and directory discovery.

A comprehensive utility designed to assess the security posture of modern APIs, including REST, GraphQL, and gRPC. It strictly follows the OWASP API Security Top 10 framework, testing for critical vulnerabilities such as Broken Object/Function Level Authorization (BOLA/BFLA), SQL/NoSQL injection flaws, and weaknesses in authentication mechanisms like JWT manipulation. Essential for security engineers and penetration testers validating complex microservice architectures and API gateways.

A specialized tool/methodology to detect Broken Object Property Level Authorization (BOPLA), covering two critical OWASP API security flaws: Excessive Data Exposure and Mass Assignment. Use this when auditing APIs to ensure that data returned in responses is limited to only what the client needs, and that updates/writes are strictly filtered to prevent attackers from modifying unauthorized object properties.

This tool discovers and inventories 'shadow APIs'—endpoints that operate outside documented specifications (OpenAPI/Swagger). It utilizes advanced traffic analysis against API gateways (e.g., Kong, AWS API Gateway), cloud configuration scanning, and source code mining. Essential for assessing the complete API attack surface, auditing forgotten services, or establishing robust API governance policies.

This script automates the detection and exploitation of Broken Function Level Authorization (BFLA) in APIs, following OWASP API Top 10 guidelines. It simulates low-privilege users attempting to access or modify restricted administrative endpoints (e.g., user management, system settings) using techniques like role switching, path manipulation, and parameter tampering. Essential for assessing vertical privilege escalation risks and verifying robust Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).

A specialized security testing skill designed to identify excessive data exposure in REST or GraphQL APIs, adhering to OWASP API3:2023 guidelines. It works by intercepting raw API responses and systematically comparing the returned data against what the frontend UI actually displays. This helps auditors detect leaked PII, internal identifiers, debug fields, or other sensitive business data that should have been filtered out by the endpoint response. Use cases include auditing microservice boundaries, assessing mobile API responses designed for multiple clients, and verifying proper respons...

This guide provides a comprehensive methodology for identifying and exploiting Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) vulnerabilities in web applications and APIs. It teaches testers how to systematically manipulate object identifiers (such as numerical IDs, UUIDs, or slugs) within API requests and URLs. Techniques involve using advanced tools like Burp Suite's Authorize extension to test object-level access control, validating both horizontal (same privilege) and vertical (different privilege) access restrictions during authorized penetration tests or bug bounty engagements.

This skill demonstrates how to exploit vulnerabilities in JWT implementations, specifically algorithm confusion. It targets APIs that fail to strictly enforce the signing algorithm, allowing attackers to downgrade signatures (e.g., RS256 to HS256) or bypass signature verification entirely (alg:none). Use this for authorized penetration testing of API security and cryptographic integrity.

A specialized skill for discovering and exploiting Mass Assignment vulnerabilities (autobinding) in REST APIs. It guides the injection of unexpected or hidden parameters (such as role or isAdmin) into create/update requests. This technique is crucial during API security assessments to test for privilege escalation, authorization bypass, and unintended parameter binding in ORM-backed endpoints (e.g., Rails, Django).

A comprehensive tool and guide for detecting and exploiting NoSQL injection vulnerabilities in MongoDB, CouchDB, and similar databases. It simulates advanced attacks such as authentication bypass, blind data extraction using regex, and JavaScript execution via the $where operator. Ideal for penetration testers and security researchers assessing APIs and web applications backed by NoSQL backends.

This skill guides the detection and exploitation of JavaScript prototype pollution vulnerabilities. It covers both client-side (DOM XSS) and server-side (RCE, Auth Bypass) attacks by injecting properties into Object.prototype using keys like `__proto__`. Use this when assessing APIs that deep-merge or clone user-controlled JSON data, or for general web application security testing.
