Skill UI

This skill guides authors through the critical pre-submission decisions for fully Gold Open Access publishing. It helps confirm the Article Processing Charge (APC), check eligibility for waivers/discounts (e.g., low-income status, institutional agreements), and select the appropriate Creative Commons license (CC BY vs CC BY-NC) to ensure funder compliance and adherence to academic standards.

A comprehensive audit checklist for authors preparing submissions for top-tier academic conferences like PODC. This guide covers critical submission stages, including the two-step abstract registration, selecting the appropriate paper track (Regular vs. Brief Announcement), adhering to the 10-page merits rule, maintaining double-blind anonymity, and ensuring the mathematical rigor of the proof. Use this before final submission.

A comprehensive checklist and guide for authors preparing manuscripts for scholarly submission, specifically for Public Opinion Quarterly (POQ) via ScholarOne. It ensures compliance with double-blind anonymity, specific word count caps, mandatory AAPOR disclosure elements (Appendix A), and proper data archiving protocols (Dataverse). Use this guide as the final critical check before clicking 'Submit'.

This framework guides the critical appraisal of scientific literature syntheses. It helps users assess the credibility of individual studies—checking for power, replication status, and publication bias—to ensure the overall synthesis accurately reflects the best evidence. It emphasizes weighing conflicting results by construct rather than simple vote-counting, ensuring methodological balance and comprehensiveness in reporting.

This skill is designed to help authors determine if their manuscript is appropriate for submission to Progress in Energy and Combustion Science. It provides a rigorous checklist for evaluating whether a work meets the journal's high bar for critical synthesis, comprehensiveness, and authority. It guides authors to reframe primary research into an integrative, agenda-setting review, covering scope, method rigor, and specific submission requirements.

This comprehensive guide details the rigorous standards required to defend the identification of parameters, estimands, or causal effects in quantitative economic research. It provides specific, advanced methodologies and checklists for three major branches: structural modeling, empirical causal design (e.g., DID, IV, RDD), and experimental studies. It ensures the work meets the high quantitative bar of top-tier journals by demanding explicit data-to-object mapping and robust diagnostic testing.

A comprehensive methodological guide for structuring the robustness checks and online appendix of high-level empirical economics manuscripts, specifically tailored to the standards of the Quarterly Journal of Economics (QJE). It provides a structured approach to defending the identification assumption, selection, measurement, and inference, ensuring the paper anticipates and addresses potential referee critiques.

This router guides the author through the complex, multi-stage process of submitting a top-tier economics manuscript to the Quarterly Journal of Economics (QJE). It diagnoses the current bottleneck—whether it's conceptual framing, causal identification, robustness checks, or writing style—and directs the user to the appropriate specialized skill stage (e.g., literature positioning, identifying, rebuttal). It does not replace specialized skills but ensures optimal workflow sequencing.

This skill guides the execution and stress-testing of empirical analysis for innovation studies (Research Policy). It details how to build reproducible bibliometric and patent variables, select appropriate econometric models (like Poisson/Negative Binomial for counts), and establish robust evidence. The focus is on addressing methodological challenges, ensuring transparent variable construction, and performing rigorous sensitivity checks to withstand expert scrutiny.

This strategy guides researchers in anticipating the specific, rigorous methodological objections raised by top-tier academic referees, especially in applied econometrics. It provides a systematic map connecting econometric designs (like DID, IV, RD) to common threats (e.g., measurement error, bias, specification issues). Users can pre-empt these criticisms by structuring their manuscript to include necessary defenses, robustness checks, and scope limitations before formal submission.

A comprehensive guide and style checker for revising applied economics manuscripts (e.g., for REStat). It ensures the prose is 'empirical-first,' immediately presenting the applied question, the headline estimate (with units and SE), and the design. It mandates a concise abstract (≤100 words) that clearly states the finding with a number, moving the writing away from vague, passive academic language toward plain, quantitative prose.

A comprehensive preflight checklist for submitting manuscripts to The Review of Economic Studies (REStud). It guides researchers through critical steps, including ensuring double-anonymity, adhering to Harvard author-date referencing, managing the length limit (~45 pages), and preparing supplementary online appendices. This tool ensures all academic formatting and procedural requirements are met before the final submission.
