This guide helps authors structure and articulate the novel, rigorous contribution of their work specifically for Information Systems Research (ISR) journals. It addresses the mandatory ~500-word contribution statement required in cover letters, ensuring the paper clearly advances an IS conversation, centers the IT artifact, and matches the required academic genre (insight, mechanism, or artifact).

This guide teaches researchers how to elevate specialized, subfield-specific research into a significant academic contribution. It provides a framework for framing a 'live question' that crosses multiple academic traditions, theories, and methods—moving the focus from mere internal discussion to broad scholarly relevance. Essential for humanities and social science writing.

This guide provides a framework for authors to elevate their research findings beyond mere correlation. It teaches how to articulate a strong, economically significant contribution to journals like JAE by identifying underlying mechanisms, resolving economic tensions, and establishing credible causal links. Ideal for refining introductions and discussions in quantitative academic papers.

This comprehensive router guides researchers through the entire process of developing, analyzing, and submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Accounting and Economics (JAE). It provides a structured roadmap, helping users determine the next critical step—from initial topic selection and theory development to advanced econometrics, contribution framing, and final submission preparation. It ensures that the work maintains a rigorous, economics-based argument using archival data, preventing common pitfalls like vague ideas or insufficient identification strategies.

A comprehensive guide for researchers on sharpening the theoretical contribution of academic manuscripts, especially for specialized journals like JAIS. It teaches authors how to transition from describing 'what they did' to articulating 'what the field now knows,' ensuring the work is generative, challenging, and structurally aligned with its chosen category (Theory, Empirical, etc.).

This guide helps authors structure their academic paper's contribution statement for journals like JAMS. It emphasizes the mandatory dual mandate: developing both a consequential theoretical understanding and a concrete, quantifiable managerial action. Use this skill when your results are strong, but you need to clearly articulate the 'so what' for both academia and industry, particularly when facing 'incremental' critiques.

This guide helps authors structure and sharpen the core contribution of an empirical paper for applied econometrics journals. It emphasizes shifting focus from pure theory to replicable findings derived from real data, ensuring claims are properly calibrated, and optimizing the 100-word summary for maximum impact.

This guide provides a structured methodology for academic researchers writing for top-tier journals (like JAR). It teaches how to move beyond merely stating empirical results to clearly articulating the specific, novel, and economically consequential contribution of the research. It emphasizes identifying the causal mechanism, the relative increment over prior work, and the broader theoretical or practical implications for the accounting field.

A structured guide for academic authors to sharpen the core methodological contribution of statistics or econometrics papers. It ensures the claim explicitly links a novel method (methodological delta) to a demonstrable practical application (empirical consequence), avoiding overly theoretical or purely descriptive arguments.

This framework guides authors in transforming raw empirical findings into compelling academic contributions suitable for top-tier finance journals. It teaches how to sharpen the focus from merely presenting 'better data' to articulating the underlying financial mechanism, institutional friction, or policy implication, ensuring the research answers the critical question of 'why it matters.'

This guide helps authors structure and explicitly articulate the theoretical contribution of their work, specifically tailored for high-impact journals like the Journal of Business Venturing (JBV). It teaches how to move beyond mere empirical findings to define the theoretical shift, challenge existing assumptions, and specify critical boundary conditions for the entrepreneurial phenomenon.

This guide helps authors sharpen the stated contribution of an academic manuscript, particularly in corporate finance. It instructs users on how to transform research findings into a crisp, compelling claim that clearly states 'what is new and why it matters.' It is essential for drafting abstracts, introductions, and cover letters to maximize the chance of passing an editor's initial screening.
