This guide helps authors transform raw research results into a clear, theory-driven, and policy-relevant scholarly contribution. It focuses on articulating the 'Before $ ightarrow$ After' knowledge shift—what the field previously believed versus what the paper now proves—and ensuring the policy implication is logically earned from the estimated mechanism, rather than being a generic add-on.

This guide teaches authors how to properly position their research contribution within a specialized academic field, particularly for journals like Research Policy. It instructs users on how to move beyond simple citation lists by identifying a clear, theoretical knowledge gap (a tension) in the existing literature. By anchoring the work in foundational canons and naming the prevailing consensus, authors can structure a compelling argument that defines what the field should believe after reading the paper.

A comprehensive guide for authors transitioning from summarizing individual studies to synthesizing knowledge across a field. It teaches the critical, integrative voice required for publishing high-impact reviews, covering structure (Introduction Arc), methodology (APA 7), and critical argumentation (Synthesis vs. Summary). Essential for systematic literature reviews.

A comprehensive guide for packaging robotic research artifacts (code, policies, ledgers, hardware specs) for peer review and public release. It details the necessary steps to ensure maximum reproducibility, auditability, and permanence, covering both anonymous review-time evidence and citable public repositories.

A comprehensive guide for ensuring robust scientific reproducibility in robotics research (RSS). It structures evidence into distinct 'Replication Tiers' (e.g., Rerunnable, Auditable), distinguishing between the computational half (code, seeds) and the physical half (robot, environment, human protocol). It mandates the use of platform ledgers and raw trial logs to convert claims of trust into verifiable, auditable evidence.

Provides comprehensive guidelines for improving the reproducibility of academic network measurements and research artifacts, particularly for conferences like SIGCOMM. It details the necessary evidence map and the 'four ledgers'—topology, traffic, configuration, and run—to ensure that all reported claims can be accurately recreated and verified by the wider academic community.

A comprehensive guide detailing how to construct the critical 'one-shot revision letter' for SIGMETRICS submissions. This process requires transforming the response into a systematic 'change ledger,' ensuring every required change from the reviewers' list is explicitly addressed, justified, or demonstrably resolved in the revised paper or accompanying artifacts. Essential for authors aiming for conference acceptance.

A comprehensive guide for authors in data systems and related fields on achieving rigorous, verifiable reproducibility for academic papers. It mandates detailing the provenance of every claimed result by pinning five critical layers: code version, configuration parameters, dataset source, workload characteristics, and hardware specifications. Best practices include reporting distributions (e.g., percentiles, variance) and maintaining a detailed 'repro debt ledger' to withstand intense peer review.

This guide provides an in-depth breakdown of the academic research paper review cycle, using top-tier database conferences (like SIGMOD) as a case study. It covers the double-anonymous review process, the author feedback phase, interpreting the Accept/Reject/Revise verdicts, and navigating the post-decision revision window and embargo rules. Essential knowledge for authors preparing submissions to top-tier conference proceedings.

A comprehensive guide for researchers on elevating empirical findings into substantial theoretical contributions. It teaches methods to transition from simply stating 'X affects Y' to developing novel concepts, propositions, or analytical frameworks, ensuring the work engages in genuine theoretical dialogue and positions local experiences within a broader knowledge system.

A comprehensive guide for authors aiming to submit manuscripts to 'Studies in Science of Science.' It details the journal's focus areas, such as science metrics, knowledge networks, and technology policy, emphasizing the need for deep theoretical and methodological contributions. The skill helps authors optimize structure, avoid common rejection traps, and ensure adherence to academic publishing standards.

A comprehensive guide for academic authors on how to transition raw research findings into a clear, explicit, and highly significant statement of knowledge. It teaches authors how to frame their contribution—whether it's a new theory, a refined measurement, or a policy implication—to satisfy journal requirements and reviewer skepticism, ensuring the paper clearly answers the question: 'What does the field now know?'
