This router guides authors through the comprehensive, step-by-step workflow required for submitting a high-quality empirical paper to the Journal of Financial Economics (JFE). It helps diagnose bottlenecks—from vague topic selection and weak identification to robustness testing and final rebuttal writing—ensuring methodological rigor and structural completeness.

This guide instructs users on refining academic prose to meet the high standards of top-tier financial economics journals, such as JFE. It focuses on structural discipline, ensuring the introduction clearly presents the question, design, and headline results. It also enforces linguistic precision by advising on calibrated verbs, active voice usage, stating economic magnitudes, and eliminating hedging or overclaiming.

This guide teaches researchers how to structure and frame academic papers, specifically for journals focusing on financial intermediation. It emphasizes moving the contribution narrative away from general finance concepts and anchoring it firmly in the roles of institutions, economic friction, causal mechanisms, and policy consequences within the financial system. Use this to strengthen abstracts and introduction paragraphs.

A comprehensive guide for planning and stress-testing empirical analysis in financial intermediation, specifically for high-impact journals. It covers the construction of bank/loan-level panel datasets, defining variables (growth vs. levels), implementing advanced econometric specifications (e.g., fixed effects), and executing substantial robustness checks (placebo periods, alternative clustering). It also guides the planning of reproducible numerical illustrations for theoretical models.

This guide provides a comprehensive framework for rigorously identifying and defending the methodological core of academic papers in finance and banking. It covers both empirical tracks (e.g., staggered DID, RDD, causal design for bank data) and theoretical tracks (defining necessary assumptions and analytical discipline). It helps researchers move beyond default methods to address complex challenges like internal versus external validity and causality separation.

A comprehensive guide for researchers writing for top-tier journals like JFI. It teaches authors how to structure the introduction and related-work sections by clearly positioning their contribution against the established frontier of banking and financial intermediation. It emphasizes identifying the specific mechanism gap, citing the two to four closest antecedent papers, and distinguishing the work from adjacent financial fields.

Provides a structured guide for authors responding to review and revision (R&R) comments for top-tier finance journals like the Journal of Financial Intermediation (JFI). It teaches how to structure point-by-point rebuttals, address identification challenges (empirical and theoretical), and maintain a credible, evidence-based tone essential for single-blind academic review.

This guide assists authors in preparing research materials for submission to the Journal of Financial Intermediation (JFI), adhering to Elsevier Option C. It provides detailed instructions on managing, depositing, citing, and linking research data, code, and algorithms—whether the data is public, proprietary, or restricted (e.g., central bank registers). The goal is to ensure methodological rigor and reproducibility through the Data Statement.

This guide provides a comprehensive strategic overview of the Journal of Financial Intermediation (JFI)'s unique submission process. It details the reality of active desk-rejection, the single-blind review format, and the expectations for engaging with a single expert referee. It is designed to help authors calibrate their manuscript to maximize acceptance chances at highly selective academic venues.

This skill guides researchers in assessing whether a manuscript's core contribution centers on banking, financial intermediation, or market frictions. It helps determine the research's scope, guiding decisions on whether the paper is theory-led (models of friction) or empirics-led (causal designs on credit data). Use this to maximize publication chances in specialized finance journals.

This workflow router guides authors through the complex lifecycle of submitting a paper to the Journal of Financial Intermediation (JFI). It coordinates the entire academic writing process, determining the optimal sequence of skills based on whether the contribution is theory-led or empirics-led. It is designed to help authors structure their research, focusing on methodological rigor (e.g., Gate B checks) before drafting the final prose.

This guide provides best practices for empirical design and microstructure measurement in financial markets. It covers cleaning high-frequency TAQ/order-book data, constructing robust liquidity, spread, and price-impact measures, and meticulously documenting all sample filters and calculation assumptions. Essential for academic research where measurement rigor and transparency are paramount.
