A comprehensive guide for tackling a 'revise-and-resubmit' academic review (R&R). This process details how to substantively resolve critical, first-order concerns—such as identification threats, construct measurement, or model assumptions—before drafting the letter. It emphasizes rigorous analysis, structured point-by-point responses, maintaining manuscript consistency, and preserving anonymity for resubmission.

This skill acts as a specialized guide for researchers submitting applied econometrics or empirical economics manuscripts. It helps authors assess the suitability of their work for the Review of Economics and Statistics (REStat) venue. It emphasizes framing the contribution around careful identification, robust measurement, and clean design, rather than general interest, providing crucial pre-submission self-checks and identifying potential desk-reject risks.

A comprehensive methodological guide detailing high standards for causal inference in finance research, specifically tailored for top journals like RFS. It covers advanced techniques such as Difference-in-Differences (DID), Instrumental Variables (IV), Regression Discontinuity Design (RDD), and asset-pricing identification, ensuring designs meet rigorous standards for exogenous variation and endogeneity control.

This comprehensive guide provides authors with a strategic framework for submitting academic manuscripts to top-tier journals. It details best practices for suggesting and opposing expert reviewers, and, crucially, performing an 'objection pre-mortem.' By anticipating common critiques (e.g., lack of novelty, identification threats) and preparing robust counter-arguments beforehand, authors can significantly strengthen their paper and increase their chances of acceptance.

A comprehensive guide for authors addressing the rigorous identification requirements for industrial-organization (IO) manuscripts, particularly targeting top-tier journals like the RJE. It details structural and reduced-form modeling approaches for areas including demand, supply, entry, mergers, and auctions. The resource emphasizes defending endogeneity, selecting appropriate market-based instruments, utilizing modern econometric estimators (e.g., Callaway–Sant'Anna), and establishing clear causal links between variation and structural parameters.

This router guides authors through the entire lifecycle of submitting an applied microeconomics or Industrial Organization (IO) manuscript to the RAND Journal of Economics (RJE). It acts as an entry-point dispatcher, mapping specific writing, analysis, and revisions (e.g., framing, identification, rebuttal) to the correct stage, ensuring the paper meets the journal's stringent standards.

This guide provides a comprehensive strategy for elevating the credibility of finance manuscripts to the standard of top-tier journals. It details rigorous methods for empirical causal identification (DID, IV, RDD, natural experiments) and ensures theoretical rigor by assessing assumptions, generalizability, and proof exposition. It helps researchers stress-test their work's core logic.

A protocol designed to rehearse the rigorous academic peer review process before actual submission. It simulates an Associate Editor's initial desk-screen and incorporates multiple independent referee perspectives (e.g., identification, robustness). The output provides a calibrated decision band and a prioritized, skill-mapped list of required fixes, helping authors predict and address potential weaknesses.

This comprehensive guide provides methodological frameworks for designing rigorous empirical studies in strategic management. It covers defining the sample, selecting the unit of analysis, validating key measures (performance and strategic choices), and critically, implementing robust identification designs (e.g., DID, IV, Fixed Effects) to address endogeneity and establish causal claims.

This guide provides expert best practices for structuring and refining empirical tables and figures for top-tier academic journals. It teaches authors how to make exhibits self-contained, report complex econometric results (like DID and identification checks), and visualize nuanced mechanisms, ensuring maximum scholarly impact.

This comprehensive guide helps researchers determine if their academic research question aligns with the scope and criteria of top-tier strategic management journals (e.g., SMJ). It provides a multi-part fit test covering strategic DNA, unit of analysis (firm-level), theoretical stakes, and empirical identification challenges. It guides authors on sharpening their questions and choosing the correct specialized journal (SMJ, SEJ, GSJ).

A comprehensive guide for applying advanced quantitative methods (OLS, Multilevel, Survival Analysis) to large-scale social surveys (CGSS, CFPS, etc.). This guide emphasizes shifting the focus from purely statistical identification (econometric coefficient races) to deep sociological interpretation, focusing on revealing social mechanisms, structural heterogeneity, and real-world social consequences.
