This guide provides a rigorous methodological checklist for conducting data analysis suitable for top-tier academic journals, such as JMIS. It covers advanced techniques across econometrics (addressing identification and endogeneity), behavioral modeling (SEM/PLS, common-method bias), and ML/analytics, ensuring that research findings meet the highest standards of robustness and theoretical grounding.

This comprehensive guide helps researchers move beyond descriptive correlations to build rigorous, theory-driven manuscripts for top-tier IS journals. It outlines how to structure theoretical arguments based on specific research styles, including IT business value mechanisms, platform economics, behavioral models, and economic incentives, emphasizing the derivation of hypotheses and comparative statics before empirical testing.

A comprehensive guide for researchers conducting advanced data analysis and reporting for top marketing journals. It details selecting the appropriate econometric estimator (e.g., ANOVA, DiD, IV, mediation models) based on the study design (experimental, observational, panel). It emphasizes meeting rigorous journal mandates, including exact p-values, standard errors, and effect sizes, and linking statistical findings to practical managerial claims.

This framework guides researchers on how to rigorously position their academic contribution, particularly for top-tier journals like JMR. It mandates defining novelty across three critical axes—substantive phenomena, methodological models, and theoretical mechanisms—and explicitly distinguishing the work from the single closest piece of existing literature to ensure the contribution is framed as a genuine advance.

This guide assists researchers in aligning their study design—whether behavioral (lab/field experiments) or modeling-econometric (IV/DiD/RDD)—with the rigorous standards required by the Journal of Marketing Research (JMR). It covers best practices for causal identification, power analysis, structural estimation, and meeting journal-level expectations like replication and Web Appendix planning.

This guide details the entire review process for the Journal of Marketing Research (JMR), from initial editorial screening and potential desk rejection to the double-anonymized peer review stage. It explains the EIC/Coeditor routing model, the requirement for two independent reviews for acceptance, and provides guidance on interpreting critical feedback (rigor vs. substance) found in decision letters. Use this before submission to set expectations, or after receiving a decision to understand the core concerns.

This comprehensive guide assists researchers in structuring rigorous and contribution-worthy academic theories suitable for top-tier journals. It meticulously details both the deductive path (building hypotheses through explicit mechanisms) and the inductive path (creating auditable, grounded models from qualitative data). It teaches how to move beyond mere description to establish profound theoretical insights and address rival explanations.

A comprehensive framework for analyzing and presenting algorithmic contributions in academic papers. It guides users beyond mere computational speed, requiring rigorous proof of complexity (Big O), convergence (rate and conditions), or approximation bounds (rho). Essential for optimizing and validating complex computational models in scientific fields.

A guide for integrating behavioral theory into rigorous empirical studies. It outlines the necessary steps to move beyond descriptive findings of irrationality by constructing a statistically identifiable behavioral model (e.g., incorporating loss aversion parameters) and testing it against rational baselines using controlled, incentive-compatible experimental designs. Essential for submitting papers requiring model explanation of behavioral biases.

This guide helps researchers determine if their manuscript is suitable for highly quantitative, theory-driven journals. It emphasizes evaluating the core deliverable—whether it consists of a formal model, provable properties, and an algorithm, rather than relying solely on empirical data or policy recommendations. Essential for optimizing journal submission strategy.

A guide for transforming complex academic models, propositions, and numerical findings into actionable, model-backed managerial insights for high-level journals. It emphasizes deriving explicit decision rules based on parameter thresholds and ranges, strictly avoiding vague policy slogans or general statements of importance.

This guide provides a rigorous framework for constructing formal academic models, tailored for top-tier management journals. It emphasizes the four essential components—decision variables, constraints, objective functions, and assumptions—while providing detailed guidelines on ensuring model completeness, mathematical solvability, and, most critically, the defensibility of every assumption against academic scrutiny.
