This guide models the three-stage review process for the Journal on Communications (JOC). It helps authors understand the initial screening (format, relevance, plagiarism), expert peer review, and final committee review. By predicting potential outcomes and identifying strategic 'levers' at each stage, users can effectively revise manuscripts, manage submission timelines, and significantly increase the chances of successful publication in communication, networking, or information security fields.

This skill is a comprehensive guide for authors submitting manuscripts to top public economics journals, such as the Journal of Public Economics (JPubE). It evaluates the manuscript's fit, framing, methodological rigor, and policy relevance. It goes beyond simple estimates, focusing on establishing a public-finance mechanism, ensuring credible identification (e.g., DiD, RDD), and connecting findings explicitly to welfare or optimal policy outcomes. Use this when targeting highly specialized public-finance venues and needing to refine the narrative structure and empirical arguments.

This guide provides an advanced framework for conducting rigorous causal inference and policy evaluation, essential for academic journals. It covers state-of-the-art methods including DiD, RDD, Synthetic Control, and experimental analysis. The core focus is moving beyond simple p-values to estimate effect magnitudes in tangible 'decision units' (e.g., dollars per household, percentage points). It mandates comprehensive stress-testing, including pre-trend checks, placebo outcomes, and detailed subgroup heterogeneity analysis, ensuring results are immediately actionable by regulators.

This guide helps authors sharpen the academic contribution of public finance research. It instructs users on translating mere statistical findings (coefficients) into policy-relevant parameters, welfare verdicts (e.g., DWL, MVPF), or mechanisms that advance the understanding of the economic role of government. It emphasizes linking research outcomes to normative policy choices.

This guide provides a comprehensive overview of the editorial and review process for the Journal of Public Economics (JPubE). It details the single anonymized review model, expectations regarding multiple specialist reviewers, the use of Editorial Manager, and strategic advice for SSRN preprints and appeals. Use this skill when planning a submission, understanding review outcomes, or managing academic publication expectations.

This guide models the rigorous, multi-cycle decision-making process for top-tier data mining conferences like KDD. It details how decisions are weighed, considering reviewer scores, rebuttal strategies, area chair synthesis, and specific criteria (e.g., reproducibility, ethics, industrial feasibility) across outcomes like Accept, Resubmit, and Reject. Essential for understanding academic publishing rigor.

A comprehensive pre-writing guide for researchers determining the optimal venue and track for a data science contribution. It outlines a two-stage decision process: first, assessing if the work aligns with the KDD focus on data regimes (scale, drift, heterogeneity); and second, selecting the correct track (Research, ADS, Datasets & Benchmarks, etc.) based on the strongest, most honest evidence available—especially emphasizing real-world deployment outcomes.

This skill guides authors through the rigorous academic publication review process. It details the multi-stage steps—from initial intake screening (identifying data dumps or parochialism) to double-anonymous external review—to help authors predict potential reviewer objections, understand the likely outcome, and strategically strengthen the manuscript structure before submission.

A detailed guide for crafting medical structured abstracts, specifically adhering to the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) guidelines. This process ensures the abstract is concise (≤250 words), contains four mandatory sections (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions), and reports primary outcomes using effect size and 95% CI, rather than relying solely on P-values. It is crucial for late-stage manuscript polish.

This skill rigorously stress-tests a clinical study's potential impact against the standards of top-tier medical journals (e.g., NEJM, Lancet, JAMA). It evaluates three critical gates: clinical importance (patient outcomes), methodological rigor (study design), and generalizability (broader applicability). Use this to determine if a study is merely incremental or if it genuinely sets a new standard of care, helping authors decide the best publication venue.

A comprehensive guide detailing the multi-stage, double-anonymous review process used at major academic conferences like OOPSLA. It explains the four possible outcomes (Accept, Minor/Major Revision, Reject), the mechanics of 'round-hopping' between submission volumes, and provides strategic advice on how to write author responses and manage revision expectations to maximize publication chances.

A comprehensive guide for project-managing the demanding lifecycle of submitting a top-tier systems conference paper (e.g., OSDI). Covers critical deadlines, from initial title registration and full submission to artifact preparation and final paper revisions. It provides strategies for navigating review outcomes, retargeting to other venues (SOSP, NSDI), and utilizing the silent window for continuous improvement.
