This guide assists in building a robust theoretical framework for research policy manuscripts. It moves beyond simple empirical measurement by structuring the argument using the innovation-mechanism chain (antecedent → mechanism → outcome). It teaches how to connect firm-level findings up to the systemic policy or institutional level, ensuring the contribution is theoretically advanced and legible across disciplines (e.g., economic, managerial, STS).

A methodological guide for empirical economists on balancing theoretical depth with empirical findings. It advises authors on how to structure models—determining if a structural, light, or minimal theory dose is appropriate—to ensure the core contribution remains the testable estimate, rather than the theory itself.

A comprehensive guide and style checker for revising applied economics manuscripts (e.g., for REStat). It ensures the prose is 'empirical-first,' immediately presenting the applied question, the headline estimate (with units and SE), and the design. It mandates a concise abstract (≤100 words) that clearly states the finding with a number, moving the writing away from vague, passive academic language toward plain, quantitative prose.

This guide provides a rigorous framework for stress-testing and implementing state-of-the-art causal identification strategies required for high-impact empirical economics. It covers advanced methodologies including Difference-in-Differences (DID), Instrumental Variables (IV), Regression Discontinuity (RDD), Synthetic Control, and Structural Modeling. It emphasizes modern estimators (e.g., Callaway-Sant'Anna, effective F) and robust diagnostic checks to ensure the causal claims are methodologically sound and defensible.

This skill guides authors on how to proactively strengthen their academic manuscripts before submission, especially for highly demanding journals. It involves identifying the most likely expert reviewers, predicting their specific methodological, theoretical, or empirical objections, and strategically integrating countermeasures, robustness checks, and alternative explanations directly into the main text. It transforms the submission process from a defensive reaction to a proactive, structured argument.

This guide provides a comprehensive methodological framework for conducting and reporting rigorous robustness checks in high-stakes empirical economics papers. It details crucial steps—including specification stability, placebo tests, inference corrections, and mechanism evidence—necessary to anticipate skeptical reviewers. The goal is to harden findings, ensure reproducibility, and elevate the credibility of research findings.

This workflow acts as a comprehensive router for academic researchers, guiding the entire manuscript lifecycle from initial topic selection and literature positioning through empirical identification, theoretical modeling, writing refinement, and final submission/rebuttal. It ensures the work adheres to the rigorous standards of top journals like The Review of Economic Studies (REStud).

A comprehensive guide for executing rigorous empirical accounting studies. This resource details best practices for advanced econometric techniques, including correct standard error clustering (firm-level, two-way clustering), executing identification strategies (DiD, RD, IV/2SLS), validating accounting constructs, and performing extensive robustness checks (falsification, placebo tests). It also emphasizes data provenance and reproducibility, critical for top-tier academic publications.

This guide outlines best practices for developing self-contained, rigorous tables and figures for empirical academic research, particularly in accounting. It covers the complete exhibit set—including variable definitions, descriptive statistics, main results, and advanced diagnostic plots (e.g., DiD event-time plots)—ensuring the work withstands intense academic scrutiny.

This skill acts as a specialized guide for researchers submitting applied econometrics or empirical economics manuscripts. It helps authors assess the suitability of their work for the Review of Economics and Statistics (REStat) venue. It emphasizes framing the contribution around careful identification, robust measurement, and clean design, rather than general interest, providing crucial pre-submission self-checks and identifying potential desk-reject risks.

A specialized academic tool designed to help researchers evaluate whether their manuscript is suitable for submission to highly specialized journals, such as the China Review of Political Economy. It guides users on aligning empirical findings with deep theoretical construction, institutional analysis, and the specific theoretical framing of Marxist and Chinese socialist political economy.

A comprehensive guide for structuring rigorous empirical financial research papers, particularly for top-tier journals like RFS. It details critical design choices for sample construction, variable measurement (proxy validity), estimator selection (GMM, Fama–MacBeth, DID), and standard error adjustments, ensuring methodological rigor and reproducibility against academic scrutiny.
