A comprehensive guide for authors preparing a rebuttal and response letter after a major journal revision (e.g., R&R). It structures the response to referees and editors, emphasizing the policy contribution and addressing every comment point-by-point. The guide stresses the need for evidence-led arguments, strengthening the welfare/policy reading, and ensuring reproducibility standards are met to successfully resubmit high-stakes academic research.

A comprehensive strategy guide for authors submitting policy-evaluation papers to top economics journals. It details how expert referees evaluate manuscripts, focusing on four critical areas: policy interest, causal credibility, welfare reading, and robustness. This tool helps authors proactively anticipate and strengthen potential weaknesses before submission or during revision, significantly increasing the paper's chances of acceptance.

This package assists researchers in assembling a compliant data and code deposit for AEJ: Economic Policy manuscripts. It ensures adherence to the AEA Data and Code Availability Policy by structuring the openICPSR deposit, generating the required README, and managing restricted data access paths. It is critical for passing the mandated pre-publication reproducibility check.

This guide outlines how to structure a rigorous robustness program for economic policy manuscripts. It emphasizes defending the overall policy takeaway, rather than merely reporting coefficient significance. Users learn to address common econometric threats—such as specification changes, pre-trends, multiple testing, and selection on unobservables—using advanced techniques (e.g., Wild-cluster bootstrap, Oster bounds) to ensure the policy conclusion is stable and credible.

This comprehensive checklist guides authors through the final necessary checks before submitting a manuscript to AEJ: Economic Policy via the AEA system. It ensures strict compliance with single-blind review rules, JEL code requirements, formatting standards, data availability statements, and disclosure policies, significantly improving the likelihood of a successful submission.

This guide details best practices for transforming raw econometric outputs (coefficients, significance stars) into self-contained, policy-message-carrying exhibits for top-tier economic journals (e.g., AEJ: Policy). It emphasizes replacing significance stars with standard errors (SEs) or confidence intervals (CIs), creating a 'headline exhibit' that communicates the policy effect in interpretable units, and structuring tables and figures for maximum clarity for non-academic policymakers.

A comprehensive framework for translating reduced-form causal estimates (e.g., elasticity, treatment effects) into explicit policy statements. It guides researchers on building clear welfare, cost-benefit, or optimal-policy models, defining sufficient statistics, and articulating distributional effects, ensuring policy claims are rigorously grounded in empirical data.

This skill acts as a central workflow router for manuscripts targeting the American Economic Journal: Economic Policy (AEJ: Policy). It diagnoses the current stage of a paper—whether it's topic selection, design, modeling, writing, or rebuttal—and recommends the next specialized skill. It ensures the research maintains a strong focus on credible causal evidence and actionable policy implications.

A comprehensive guide for drafting and revising economic policy manuscripts, particularly the abstract and introduction. It teaches authors how to convert complex causal estimates into clear, actionable policy takeaways while adhering to rigorous academic house style, ensuring claims are calibrated and non-overstated.

This guide outlines the comprehensive package structure required for submitting manuscripts to American Economic Review: Insights (AER: Insights). It ensures authors meet the AEA Data and Code Availability Policy, providing all necessary code, raw data access, and documentation (including a master script and exhibit-to-code map) to allow the data editor to verify the reproducibility of every result before publication. It is crucial for passing the final publication gate.

A comprehensive final pre-submission checklist for American Economic Review: Insights. This guide ensures your manuscript meets strict journal requirements, including word count limitations (main text and exhibits), abstract length, author metadata, and adherence to the AEA Data and Code Availability Policy. Use this before submitting to avoid auto-return gates.

This guide helps researchers assess whether their education topic has broad significance for a general journal like AERJ, and how to define the dominant research lens (Policy, Teaching, Development, etc.). It provides a structured methodology for sharpening focus and improving academic framing.
