A comprehensive strategy guide for submitting academic papers to The World Bank Economic Review (WBER). It teaches researchers how to anticipate and preempt common criticisms from development-economics referees (identification flaws, policy relevance, data quality) and how to structure the cover letter to maximize acceptance chances.

A comprehensive guide for submitting manuscripts to The World Bank Economic Review (WBER). It covers critical pre-submission checks, including adherence to the 40-page limit, single-anonymization rules, required data availability statements with DOIs, and correct formatting (PDF, double-spaced, Times New Roman). Use this checklist before submitting via ManuscriptCentral to ensure your paper meets the journal's strict formatting and policy requirements, minimizing the risk of immediate return.

Provides comprehensive guidelines for designing and auditing academic tables and figures, specifically for development economics journals. It teaches how to translate statistical coefficients into actionable policy magnitudes, validate research design (e.g., balance checks, pre-trends), and adhere to strict page limits while maintaining clarity for both economists and policymakers.

A comprehensive guide detailing when and how to structure theoretical models in development economics research, particularly for World Bank Economic Review submissions. It emphasizes that models must serve a functional purpose—such as interpreting empirical coefficients, running policy counterfactuals, or aggregating to welfare statements—rather than being decorative. Key principles cover parameter identification, matching structural frictions to the local setting, and handling counterfactual assumptions (Lucas critique).

A detailed guide for structuring and positioning development economics research for high-impact journals like The World Bank Economic Review (WBER). It teaches researchers to reframe their work to satisfy two crucial criteria: rigorous empirical design (credible empirics) and actionable policy relevance in developing countries, ensuring the work transcends being a mere project report.

This guide provides a comprehensive framework for authors writing for development economics journals, specifically addressing the need to bridge the gap between rigorous econometric analysis and actionable policy advice. It teaches how to structure introductions, write concise abstracts, and frame findings by emphasizing policy magnitudes over statistical significance, ensuring the work speaks to both technical economists and non-specialist policymakers.

This skill is a specialized guide used by authors to evaluate the fit and required rigor for submitting development economics manuscripts to the World Bank Economic Review (WBER). It assesses the manuscript's alignment with the journal's focus on policy-relevant empirical micro and macro research, covering methodological standards (RCTs, IV, DiD), required policy framing, and structural formatting.

This skill assesses whether a manuscript is suitable for World Development, a leading multidisciplinary development-studies journal. It guides authors on re-framing their work to focus on real-world development problems, policy relevance, and global issues (e.g., poverty, climate, governance). It clarifies the required balance between rigorous methodology and multidisciplinary, actionable insights for a broad academic readership.

This guide provides best practices for optimizing the presentation of data exhibits—including tables, figures, and qualitative displays—in development economics manuscripts. It ensures that complex findings are highly legible and actionable for a multidisciplinary, policy-oriented audience, moving beyond simple statistical reporting to communicate clear, impactful narratives.

This guide provides a comprehensive framework for researchers to assess if their development-related work is suitable for World Development (WD). It moves beyond mere methodological rigor, focusing instead on the paper's multidisciplinary relevance, real-world policy stakes, and ability to advance global understanding of development problems (e.g., poverty, governance, inequality). It helps authors ensure their findings appeal to a broad academic and policy audience.

This guide instructs researchers on how to adapt academic manuscripts for a highly cross-disciplinary, policy-oriented audience, modeled after the standards of World Development (WD). It emphasizes shifting the focus from literature gaps or technical methods to concrete development problems, translating complex jargon and statistical findings into clear, actionable policy implications, ensuring maximum readability for non-specialist policymakers and scholars.

This guide outlines the mandatory requirements for authors publishing quantitative or mixed-method research in academic journals. It details the process of creating a complete replication package—including raw data, master scripts, seeds, and extensive README documentation—and depositing it in a trusted data repository (like Dataverse). It ensures scholarly rigor by guaranteeing that published findings are fully reproducible and traceable.
