This tool is used when an economic research paper requires explicit theoretical modeling or a clear causal mechanism to explain empirical results. It focuses on building and disciplining the underlying economic argument, ensuring that empirical findings are connected to fundamental economic forces, general equilibrium, and rigorous theoretical predictions. It helps transform descriptive findings into testable, theoretically sound research.

This guide helps researchers refine their academic work to meet the rigorous standards of top economics journals like JPE. It teaches users to move beyond simple correlation by structuring their research around clear economic mechanisms, linking evidence to established theory, ensuring generality, and properly considering equilibrium effects. Use this when developing a paper pitch or deciding the overall scope of a manuscript.

This skill guides researchers in developing robust, theoretically innovative manuscripts, specifically for top-tier journals like JPSP. It moves beyond simply reporting data by teaching how to define a core claim, derive diagnostic, testable hypotheses (H1, H2, H3...), establish clear mechanisms, and map the cumulative argument across multiple studies. It focuses on the theoretical framework, not the data analysis itself.

This guide helps authors sharpen the academic contribution of public finance research. It instructs users on translating mere statistical findings (coefficients) into policy-relevant parameters, welfare verdicts (e.g., DWL, MVPF), or mechanisms that advance the understanding of the economic role of government. It emphasizes linking research outcomes to normative policy choices.

A comprehensive guide for developing rigorous spatial economic models, designed for manuscripts needing deep theoretical interpretation (e.g., JUE submissions). It instructs users on how to build quantitative spatial models (QSMs), sorting models, and spatial-equilibrium frameworks to interpret reduced-form estimates, establish counterfactual policies, and ensure that theory rigorously disciplines the empirical findings. Focus areas include general-equilibrium reallocation, policy invariance, and identifying parameters.

A comprehensive guide for authors submitting to top-tier journals, detailing how to structure policy implication sections for open economies. It emphasizes shifting the focus from generic domestic policy lists to specific, evidence-based recommendations concerning international mechanisms such as trade tariffs, exchange rate elasticity, capital account management, and global value chains (GVCs).

A comprehensive style guide for revising research papers to meet the specific, high standards of KDD conferences. It details the expected structure of the first page, emphasizing data regimes, named mechanisms, and quantifiable evidence (scale, metrics). It also provides rules for differentiating research vs. applied data science (ADS) voices and optimizing content for two-column, page-limited formats.

A comprehensive guide for structuring the theoretical core of academic papers in Management Science. It covers two main approaches: developing formal analytical models (assumptions, propositions, comparative statics) or generating robust empirical hypotheses based on explicit mechanisms. The goal is always to derive decision-relevant, cross-departmental insights.

This guide provides a structured methodology for authors to articulate the core contribution of their Information Systems (IS) research for top-tier academic journals, such as MIS Quarterly. It ensures that the paper explicitly states the new knowledge produced (e.g., behavioral mechanisms, design principles, economic effects), justifies the manuscript's length, and rigorously connects theoretical advances with practical and societal implications, thereby avoiding claims of being merely 'incremental' or 'technical' exercises.

A comprehensive guide for structuring and generating core exhibits—including estimates, model-fit, comparative statics, and counterfactuals—for academic manuscripts in Marketing Science. Designed to adhere to rigorous academic house styles (e.g., INFORMS), ensuring model mechanisms and policy implications are clearly and rigorously presented to quantitative reviewers.

A comprehensive guide for authors writing ML systems papers for MLSys. It teaches authors how to structure a technical argument by focusing on a measured bottleneck, naming mechanisms, and structuring the evaluation around research questions. It emphasizes numerical discipline, proper figure usage, and conciseness to fit within conference page limits.

This guide instructs authors on how to strategically position their research manuscript within the established body of Operations Management (OM) literature. Instead of claiming an unstudied 'void,' the focus is on joining and advancing specific 'operational conversations' within canonical OM streams (e.g., queueing, supply chain, revenue management). It emphasizes differentiating contributions based on novel operational mechanisms or decision levers, ensuring the paper's fit is clear to expert reviewers and editors.
