Skill UI

A comprehensive guide for using C# scripting within Tabular Editor to programmatically manipulate and automate Power BI semantic models. This skill supports bulk metadata operations, creating calculation groups, managing security roles, and advanced data model restructuring using the TOM API and LINQ.

Skills and references for writing, debugging, and optimizing DAX in semantic models. Provides a tiered framework, engine internals, patterns, and model optimization strategies, along with trace capture and performance profiling guidance for local and remote models.

Expert guidance for the Fabric CLI (fab) and REST APIs covering workspaces, items, lakehouses, notebooks, pipelines, semantic models, reports, capacities, OneLake, deployment, and admin, including capacity unit cost estimation.

This tool analyzes and maps the downstream dependencies of a semantic model across multiple Fabric workspaces. It is crucial for performing impact assessments before making modifications, auditing connected reports, or mapping cross-workspace data flows. It automates the lineage discovery process, providing comprehensive visibility into which reports rely on a specific data source.

PBIP is the developer-mode file format for Power BI, transforming the opaque PBIX binary into a human-readable, folder-based structure. This structure is crucial for enabling robust source control (Git diffing), external editing using specialized tools like VS Code, and seamless multi-author collaboration. It standardizes how reports and semantic models are structured for professional BI development pipelines.

Skill for working with Power BI reports using the pbir CLI. It covers exploring, building, managing, formatting, validating, and publishing reports, as well as driving Power BI Desktop for refresh and screenshots, and querying semantic models.

A comprehensive guide to authoring, optimizing, and validating Power Query M expressions used within semantic model partitions. This resource covers crucial topics such as maintaining query folding for performance, applying early filtering and column pruning, and leveraging the Power Query API for robust data validation and debugging.

Trigger, monitor, validate, and troubleshoot Power BI semantic model refreshes using the Enhanced Refresh REST API and Fabric CLI. Supports full, dataOnly, calculate, clearValues, and defragment refresh types with table or partition scope.

Guidance for designing, building, refreshing, and reviewing Power BI / Analysis Services tabular models from the terminal. Covers star schema, relationships, measures, calculation groups, roles, storage modes, incremental refresh, and model optimization. Routes every operation to the narrowest capable tool: te CLI first, then TOM or MCP, then TMDL. Ensures model quality, performance, and readiness for Copilot/AI.

An interactive workflow for auditing and standardizing naming conventions (tables, columns, measures) in Power BI semantic models (TMDL). It ensures names are human-readable, consistent, and aligned with core business terminology, addressing technical issues like abbreviations, mixed casing, and inappropriate technical prefixes.

Expert guidance for the cross-platform Tabular Editor CLI (`te`) to scaffold, inspect, edit, validate, query, deploy, refresh, and test Power BI / Analysis Services semantic models from the terminal, including TMDL/BIM conversion, BPA, DAX testing, and CI/CD pipelines.

Provides expert guidance for authoring and editing Tabular Model Definition Language (TMDL) files directly within PBIP projects. This skill is designed for advanced users needing to perform quick, text-level modifications—such as updating descriptions, fixing format strings, or defining measures—when full, dedicated tools (like Tabular Editor CLI) are unavailable. It details critical syntax rules, object nesting, and file structures for managing complex semantic models.
