When to trigger

• "Submitting soon" — last check before uploading to the PoPS portal
• Unsure which files, declarations, and deposits the portal expects
• Confirming abstract limit, APA format, and the proposal/contribution-type route
• Verifying open-science obligations and the suggested-reviewer requirement

• Publisher / venue. PoPS is published by SAGE in partnership with APS; it is bimonthly and broad/integrative — distinct from Psychological Science (single studies), Psychological Bulletin (formal meta-analyses), Annual Review of Psychology (invited surveys), and Current Directions (short, non-technical) (检索于 2026-06；以官网为准).
• Portal. Submit via Manuscript Central / ScholarOne at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/pps (检索于 2026-06；以官网为准).
• Contribution type & proposal. Identify the category — stand-alone (proposal optional), cooperative, or miscellaneous (proposal required). A positive proposal reply is not an acceptance; identical review applies (检索于 2026-06；以官网为准).
• Abstract. No more than 200 words (检索于 2026-06；以官网为准).
• Length. No strict page limit for stand-alone articles (concise preferred); brief reports run 1,000–1,500 words (检索于 2026-06；以官网为准).
• Style. APA style for references, statistics, and exhibits — confirm the current APA edition and any SAGE house deviations (检索于 2026-06；以官网为准).
• Open science. When original data are included they must be in a repository; the cover letter confirms ethical data collection; map deposits to TOP/Open-Practice expectations (检索于 2026-06；以官网为准).
• Suggested reviewers. Provide ≥5 objective reviewers, excluding mentors, colleagues, and collaborators (检索于 2026-06；以官网为准).

Preflight checklist

Article & files

• Contribution category correct; proposal sent where required (cooperative/miscellaneous)
• Manuscript complete; references complete, accurate, and APA-formatted
• Title page: title, authors, affiliations, keywords; abstract ≤ 200 words, perspective-style
• Length appropriate (concise for stand-alone; 1,000–1,500 words for a brief report)
• Figures/tables APA-styled; reproduced exhibits have permission and attribution

Open science & transparency

• Any original data deposited in a repository and cited
• Meta-science: protocol/coding deposited and (ideally) preregistered; figures reproducible
• Deposits mapped to TOP / Open-Practice badge expectations (待核实 current set)

Declarations (cover letter / portal)

• Cover letter confirms ethical data collection (检索于 2026-06)
• Conflict-of-interest / funding disclosure prepared
• AI not listed as an author; AI use disclosed per current policy
• ≥5 objective suggested reviewers (no mentors/colleagues/collaborators)

Volatile re-confirms

• Abstract limit, APA edition, portal URL, data policy, badge set, reviewer count — re-checked on SAGE/APS pages (检索于 2026-06)

Anti-patterns

• Submitting a single empirical study or a routine meta-analysis (out of scope — wrong venue)
• Skipping the required proposal for a cooperative/miscellaneous piece
• An abstract over 200 words, or an empirical-paper abstract on a perspective
• "Data available on request" instead of a repository deposit when original data are included
• Suggesting mentors/collaborators as "objective" reviewers, or naming fewer than five
• Asserting the abstract limit, portal, or data policy from memory rather than the live author pages
