Skill UI

This skill guides authors through defending complex research designs in Criminology. It covers advanced quantitative methods (e.g., DiD, IV, RDD, fixed effects), longitudinal analyses, and qualitative case studies. It teaches how to establish causal identification, address selection bias, and argue against rival theories, ensuring methodological rigor for high-impact academic submissions.

This guide provides an expert framework for advanced econometric analysis, focusing on establishing causal inference in fields like finance and trade. It details best practices for quasi-experimental designs (DID, IV, RDD, DML) and rigorously addresses common endogeneity issues such as policy bias, reverse causality, and anticipation effects, ensuring robust research methodology.

A comprehensive guide for researchers structuring empirical papers for top-tier economics journals. It covers advanced quasi-experimental techniques (DID, IV, RDD) and structural estimation, emphasizing that successful submissions require not only statistically credible identification but also broad, defensible economic meaning and general relevance. Includes detailed checklists for robustness checks and diagnostic steps.

A comprehensive guide for building a 'robustness battery' to validate empirical findings. It instructs researchers on thoroughly testing results against potential weaknesses in specification, sample selection, measurement, estimator choice, and inference assumptions. Essential for publishing rigorous, credible quantitative research.

A comprehensive guide for advanced econometric techniques in causal inference, covering modern approaches for quasi-experimental designs such as staggered Difference-in-Differences (DID), Instrumental Variables (IV), Regression Discontinuity Design (RDD), and Double Machine Learning (DML). It details best practices, critical diagnostic tests (e.g., weak instruments, parallel trend checks, bias decomposition), and robust reporting standards required for high-impact economic research.

Provides authoritative guidance on conducting mechanism analysis for empirical economic manuscripts, reflecting the current paradigm shift in causal inference. It strongly advises against outdated methods like the stepwise mediation analysis (Sobel or Baron-Kenny) and instead mandates a two-step approach: empirically estimating the causal link from treatment to mechanism (D→M), followed by a rigorous theoretical argument for the mechanism's impact on the outcome (M→Y).

This guide outlines the rigorous methodological standards required for empirical finance manuscripts. It covers essential details from sample construction (attrition tables, survivorship bias) to variable definition, merge integrity, and appropriate statistical inference (clustering, panel structure). Use this to harden your data layer and ensure your methodology is robust enough to pass peer review in top finance journals.

This guide outlines advanced econometric strategies and best practices for establishing causal identification in corporate finance and asset pricing. It addresses common methodological pitfalls, such as endogeneity, spurious correlation, and weak designs, providing specific techniques (e.g., staggered DiD, robust IV inference) required to defend a research paper's claims to top-tier academic journals.

This guide provides methodological rigor for designing studies—including manipulative experiments, observational gradient analyses, and process modeling—in the context of global change biology. It helps researchers anticipate and address critical reviewer concerns regarding scale, replication, confounding factors, and the limits of causal inference, ensuring the design can support strong claims of driver-to-response relationships.

This guide provides a comprehensive framework for authors to rigorously defend their research design in manuscripts concerning Global Environmental Change (GEC). It covers methodological pluralism, including quantitative causal inference, qualitative case studies, experiments, and mixed-methods integration. Learn how to strengthen your design, justify causal claims, address confounders, and link local evidence to multi-scale global processes.

This guide outlines the best practices and norms for executing and reporting empirical analyses in governance and comparative political science. It covers essential methods including cross-national inference, clustering uncertainty, robustness checks, multi-method triangulation, and ensuring reproducibility, guiding researchers to conduct rigorous, publication-ready studies.

A comprehensive guide for structuring rigorous research designs in Human Resource Management. It addresses advanced methodological challenges such as common-method bias (CMB), endogeneity, cross-level data analysis, and multi-wave longitudinal modeling. Learn how to align theoretical claims with appropriate designs (e.g., field experiments, panel data, multi-source surveys) to ensure causal inference and methodological rigor.
