Skill UI

A comprehensive guide to the rigorous peer-review process at the Journal of Accounting and Economics (JAE). This skill explains the mandatory editor suitability screen, the double-anonymized review structure, and the finality of the editor's decision. It also details the unique JAE Conference route and provides actionable advice on interpreting decision letters (Reject, Revise and Resubmit).

This comprehensive guide provides authors with a step-by-step workflow for submitting manuscripts to the Journal of Accounting and Economics (JAE) via Elsevier's Editorial Manager. It details crucial requirements, including executing double anonymization, formatting specific metadata (Highlights, JEL codes, Keywords), managing submission fees, and ensuring all files are correctly sequenced for the final review PDF.

This guide outlines the rigorous standards for preparing empirical tables and figures for top-tier academic journals, such as the Journal of Accounting and Economics (JAE). It covers the entire research workflow, including variable definition, sample construction, descriptive statistics, correlation matrices, advanced regressions, and event studies. The goal is to ensure all exhibits are self-contained, reproducible, and meet strict academic reviewer expectations.

This guide provides a rigorous framework for developing robust, theory-driven hypotheses in accounting research, especially for high-impact academic journals. It teaches researchers how to transition from observing mere correlations to formulating hypotheses grounded in established economic theories, such as agency theory, information economics, and positive accounting theory. The process emphasizes identifying the core economic friction, naming the acting agents and their incentives, and deriving directional, falsifiable, and a priori predictions.

This guide assists researchers in transforming vague datasets or observations into robust, positive, and economics-driven research questions suitable for prestigious accounting journals (like JAE). It teaches key concepts, such as identifying economic friction, distinguishing between normative and positive questions, establishing plausible identification strategies, and mapping the topic to specific academic domains.

This comprehensive router guides researchers through the entire process of developing, analyzing, and submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Accounting and Economics (JAE). It provides a structured roadmap, helping users determine the next critical step—from initial topic selection and theory development to advanced econometrics, contribution framing, and final submission preparation. It ensures that the work maintains a rigorous, economics-based argument using archival data, preventing common pitfalls like vague ideas or insufficient identification strategies.

This guide polishes academic prose to meet the rigorous standards of top economics and accounting journals (e.g., JAE). It ensures the writing is precise, hypothesis-driven, and structured according to positive-accounting tradition. It covers mandatory elements like structured sections (numbered), Harvard author-date referencing, and required packaging (Highlights, Keywords, JEL codes).

This guide provides a structured methodology for academic researchers writing for top-tier journals (like JAR). It teaches how to move beyond merely stating empirical results to clearly articulating the specific, novel, and economically consequential contribution of the research. It emphasizes identifying the causal mechanism, the relative increment over prior work, and the broader theoretical or practical implications for the accounting field.

A comprehensive guide for executing and reporting the full empirical robustness battery required by top accounting journals. It covers modern econometric techniques like standard error clustering, advanced Difference-in-Differences (DiD) estimators for staggered timing, Regression Discontinuity (RD) diagnostics, and Instrumental Variables (IV/2SLS). The guide emphasizes rigorous validation of accounting constructs, executing multiple sensitivity tests, and ensuring full data-and-code reproducibility for academic publication.

A guide for authors on strategically positioning their academic manuscript within specialized fields, particularly accounting and finance. It teaches how to move beyond simply identifying a 'gap' to joining a specific academic 'conversation.' The guide emphasizes stating the marginal contribution relative to the closest prior work and justifying the submission venue (e.g., JAR vs. JAE).

A comprehensive guide for designing robust, causal econometric studies using large-sample archival data. It details how to identify valid sources of variation (e.g., DiD, RD, IV), mitigate endogeneity threats (e.g., reverse causality, selection bias), and construct reproducible data pipelines required for top-tier academic research in accounting.

This comprehensive guide details the rigorous submission standards and expectations for the Journal of Accounting Research (JAR). It covers the panel-based editorial structure, crucial checkpoints like conformance and fee gates, and distinct submission pathways such as Registered Reports and the Ray Ball Conference. It helps authors set realistic expectations for the entire academic review lifecycle.
