Ideal for security researchers and embedded systems engineers.

A comprehensive forensic workflow for detecting persistent, deep-seated malware, such as bootkits and advanced rootkits. The analysis covers multiple layers, including boot sectors (MBR/VBR), UEFI firmware modules, and kernel memory forensics. It is essential for investigating sophisticated, nation-state level threats that evade standard anti-malware and EDR solutions.

A comprehensive tool suite designed to analyze firmware images from embedded devices, including routers, IoT endpoints, and critical system components like UEFI/BIOS. It facilitates deep security analysis by performing firmware extraction, filesystem integrity checks, binary reverse engineering, and sophisticated detection of bootkits, backdoors, and unauthorized modifications.

A comprehensive tool designed for assessing the security posture of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) firmware. It specializes in detecting critical vulnerabilities such as hardcoded credentials, undocumented debug interfaces, backdoor functions, and memory corruption flaws. The tool supports analyzing major industrial platforms (Siemens, Allen-Bradley) by performing static and dynamic analysis, and verifying firmware integrity against known-good baselines, adhering to standards like IEC 62443. Use only in authorized lab environments.

A comprehensive guide detailing the workflow for firmware reverse engineering. It uses tools like binwalk to identify embedded filesystems (e.g., SquashFS, CramFS), perform entropy analysis to locate hidden data, and extract components. The process covers deep inspection, credential discovery, and reporting for IoT and embedded security assessments.

A hands-on methodology for testing IoT and embedded devices, covering hardware reconnaissance, firmware extraction and analysis, bootloader access, runtime exploitation, wireless protocol attacks, companion app review, and cloud API abuse.

Provides a comprehensive guide for packaging complex research artifacts, integrating hardware, firmware, and datasets. It outlines best practices for achieving academic badges (e.g., Available, Functional, Reusable) and winning the Best Research Artifact Award. Learn how to structure analysis paths, manage raw traces, and ensure reproducibility across different evaluation environments.

This specialized skill is designed for advanced reverse engineering of firmware images in CTF environments. It guides users to map partition tables, trace complex boot chains (bootloader, kernel, init), analyze update packages, and recover embedded secrets or credentials. Use it when understanding the device's core architecture and execution path is necessary to find the decisive artifact.

This guide outlines the methodology for conducting hardware security research on embedded systems. It covers physical interface analysis (UART, JTAG, SWD), debug pad triage, secure boot evaluation, and offline firmware extraction. It emphasizes systematic, non-destructive testing protocols and responsible handling of physical devices.
