A comprehensive preflight checklist for authors submitting to the Annals of the American Association of Geographers (AAG). This guide ensures manuscripts meet the strict standards for double-anonymity, word count caps (e.g., 11,000 words), Chicago style formatting, and proper handling of sensitive geographic data before submission via ScholarOne.

Guides researchers on transforming descriptive findings into robust, conceptual, and portable geographic arguments. This skill focuses on developing a core theoretical contribution grounded in geographic concepts like scale, place, space-time, and environmental-society relations, essential for high-level academic manuscripts.

This guide teaches researchers how to rigorously assess a topic's geographic significance and determine its optimal fit within the Annals of the American Association of Geographers (AAG). It implements a two-part fit test—ensuring the argument is fundamentally geographic (space/place/scale are load-bearing) and possesses sufficient reach to interest neighboring subfields. It guides authors in choosing the correct area (e.g., Human, Physical, Methods) and appropriate journal venue (Annals vs. specialty). Use this when defining a project scope, overcoming reviewer critiques, or deciding wher...

A comprehensive guide for preparing scholarly manuscripts involving spatial data. It outlines best practices for documenting data provenance (sources, projections, processing chains), ensuring reproducibility, and adhering to critical ethical standards such as geoprivacy and human-subjects protection. Essential for maintaining research integrity in academic publishing.

This tool serves as an orchestrator for manuscripts submitted to the Annals of the AAG. It guides authors through the complex submission process by helping define the appropriate academic area (e.g., Human Geography, Physical Geography), the article format (Article, Commentary), and the sequential developmental stages—from topic selection and theory building to data analysis and final submission. It ensures the work is framed legitimately as *geography*.

This guide assists in polishing and formatting academic manuscripts for high-level geographical journals. It ensures adherence to specific academic standards, such as the Chicago Manual of Style (author-date), managing strict word count caps, and structuring the argument to be legible to a broad, interdisciplinary audience. It focuses on elevating prose from subfield jargon to broadly readable academic discourse.

This guide assists researchers in compiling and documenting all necessary ethical approvals, biosafety statements, and data/code availability declarations required for high-impact scientific manuscripts (e.g., Cancer Cell). It ensures compliance with guidelines covering animal protocols (IACUC), human subject ethics (IRB/Consent), and data sharing standards (GEO, Zenodo).

A comprehensive guide to meeting the rigorous reporting standards required for high-impact scientific journals (e.g., Cell Press). It details the structure of STAR Methods, mandates the creation of a Key Resources Table (KRT), and outlines necessary authentication for cell lines, antibodies, animal models, and deposited data (including specific identifiers like RRIDs, GEO/PRIDE accessions). This ensures maximum transparency and reproducibility in scientific research writing.

This guide outlines the standardized requirements for declaring data and code availability in major scientific publications. It details mandatory best practices, including depositing raw data (e.g., sequencing, structures) and analysis code into approved, citable public repositories (such as GEO, PDB, Mendeley Data, and Zenodo). It also provides the required standardized three-bullet statement format for ensuring reproducibility.

A comprehensive guide for creating self-contained, accessible, and budget-compliant scientific exhibits (figures, tables, and maps) for manuscripts, particularly in conservation biology. It covers best practices for data visualization, adhering to journal standards, ensuring accessibility (e.g., grayscale compatibility), and masking sensitive geographical data.

This skill guides authors on submitting manuscripts to Earth and Planetary Science Letters (EPSL). It evaluates whether quantitative research in geochemistry, geophysics, or planetary science presents a generalizable process or mechanism of broad scientific interest, adhering to Elsevier's rigorous house style and data policies. Use it as a fit/venue-selection tool for re-framing specialized regional studies into broadly relevant scientific mechanisms.

This guide provides detailed reporting norms for reducing and analyzing complex Earth and Planetary Science Letters (EPSL) data, specifically focusing on isotope geochemistry and geochronology. It mandates full uncertainty budgeting, proper statistical interpretation (e.g., MSWD, weighted means), and thorough model diagnostics to ensure results are scientifically defensible and reproducible.
