Skill UI

This skill guides researchers in elevating observed findings into rigorously theoretical, generalizable, and falsifiable arguments suitable for top-tier academic journals. It provides structured methods for building mechanisms (empirical), defining comparative statics (formal), and establishing conceptual claims (normative). Use this when you need to prove that your contribution is novel, sharp, and matters to a general readership.

A comprehensive guide for researchers submitting materials science manuscripts to the Cell Press journal Matter. It outlines the journal's 'atoms to systems' scope, defining the high bar for conceptual significance, narrative rigor, data evidence, and overall transformative impact. Use this skill to determine suitability, structure the narrative, and meet the stringent house style requirements before submission.

This comprehensive skill assists authors in assessing the suitability of their optics or photonics research for Nature Photonics. It details the journal's high-impact positioning, required scope (fundamental light-matter interaction, quantum photonics), the necessary breakthrough evidence bar, and the specific structural and stylistic requirements (abstract, introduction, methods) needed for submission success. Use it to refine your manuscript and understand the journal's editorial expectations.

A comprehensive guide for authors targeting the New Journal of Physics (NJP). It helps authors assess if their broad-scope physics manuscript is a suitable fit for the venue, detailing the required scope (e.g., quantum, AMO, condensed matter), the technical evidence bar, necessary structure, and house style requirements before official submission. This is a crucial pre-submission checklist and framing tool.

This comprehensive guide assists authors in assessing whether their manuscript, focusing on condensed matter or materials physics, is appropriate for Physical Review B (PRB). It details the journal's specific scope, the required scientific rigor (e.g., computational transparency, experimental characterization), and the house style for maximizing submission success within this specialized academic domain.

A comprehensive guide for authors considering Physical Review E (PRE) as a target venue. It details the journal's scope in statistical, nonlinear, and soft-matter physics, emphasizing methodological rigor over headline novelty. Use this skill to assess if your manuscript meets the required standards for completeness, reproducibility, and technical depth before submission.

A comprehensive guide for crafting the PNAS-style scientific abstract. It details the required structure (single paragraph, ~250 words), the five-move narrative flow (Context, Gap, Approach, Results, Implication), and the critical distinction between the technical Abstract (What/How/Found) and the Significance Statement (Why it matters). Learn how to write accessible, quantified, and self-contained science summaries.

A comprehensive guide for drafting scientific abstracts tailored for journals like PNAS Nexus. It details strict structural requirements, including maintaining a single paragraph format (max 250 words), ensuring self-containment, and presenting quantified results. Crucially, it distinguishes the abstract (What/How/Found) from the Significance Statement (Why it matters), helping authors polish their late-stage manuscripts for broad scientific audiences.

This guide teaches how to write a mandatory Significance Statement for scientific reports (like PNAS Nexus). Unlike an abstract, this statement must explain, in plain language, why the research matters to science and society—the 'so what?'. It adheres to strict length guidelines (50-120 words) and is written for a broad, non-specialist audience.

A comprehensive style checker and formatter for academic manuscripts targeting The RAND Journal of Economics (RJE). It ensures strict adherence to the journal's specific house rules, including author-date citations (no page numbers), unnumbered references/subsections, proper equation numbering, and correct usage of transition words (e.g., 'because' vs 'since'). Ideal for the final polish before submission.

This comprehensive guide details how to architect a lengthy, complex academic paper into a single, highly navigable PDF. It establishes a two-tier document model, separating self-contained 'Front Matter' from verifiable 'Back Matter.' Learn best practices for structuring proofs, ensuring dependency order, and implementing critical navigation aids (like claim indexes and TOCs) so reviewers can follow the argument flow seamlessly, even without traditional supplementary files.

This tool audits all existing skills within the current project. It performs a comprehensive quality check, validating frontmatter completeness, tool scoping, and content quality against established standards. It produces a detailed, scored report, including effort-level recommendations for each skill. Ideal for new project onboarding, pre-release quality assurance, or diagnosing skill triggering issues.
