Hands-on lab guide to configuring HTTP, HTTPS, SNMP, and SMB services for pentesting, covering setup, firewall rules, enumeration tools, and log inspection in controlled environments.

This guide details how to perform authenticated (credentialed) vulnerability scans using industry-leading tools like Nessus, Qualys, and OpenVAS. By utilizing service credentials (SSH, SMB, WinRM, SNMPv3), the scan moves beyond superficial banner checks to deeply inspect installed patches, configurations, and local system settings on Linux, Windows, and network devices. This is crucial for detecting vulnerabilities that unauthenticated scans often miss, significantly improving security assessment accuracy.

Guides configuring HTTP/HTTPS, SNMP, and SMB services plus verification and log review for penetration testing labs using Windows or Linux hosts.

This skill guides users to configure and test common network services like HTTP, HTTPS, SNMP, and SMB within a controlled penetration testing lab environment. It covers service enumeration, log analysis, and security testing procedures. Users will learn to set up web servers, secure connections, and file shares while practicing defensive and offensive security techniques on properly configured target systems.
