This guide provides advanced strategies for authors to position their research contribution within the broader academic debate, particularly for highly competitive, generalist journals like APSR. It teaches authors how to move beyond subfield-specific citations by identifying the core contested debate, engaging cross-subfield literature, and framing the paper's move to ensure its relevance to a general political science audience.

This skill guides the transformation of visual observations and documentary evidence into a sustained, contestable academic thesis, suitable for high-level scholarly publication. It teaches how to explicitly state a claim (the thesis), define its scholarly stakes, and rigorously warrant every interpretive leap using evidence chains and anticipating counter-readings. Use this when a draft is descriptive but lacks a clear, disputed argument.

A critical framework for evaluating art-historical projects, designed to elevate a local description or catalog entry into a significant, general disciplinary contribution. Use this guide to pressure-test the scope, argument strength, visual feasibility, and overall scholarly reach of your research before committing to deep writing.

This guide assists researchers in structuring and presenting academic evidence for top-tier journals like ASQ. It provides best practices for both qualitative (establishing transparent data-to-theory links, coding transparency) and quantitative (ensuring robust mechanism testing and alternative explanation checks) analyses. It ensures all theoretical claims are auditable and fully supported by the raw data.

This skill guides scholars in rigorously evaluating whether a sociology project or paper is suitable for the American Sociological Review (ASR). It focuses on testing the work's broad significance, theoretical payoff across subfields, and structural fit, distinguishing between full articles and focused comments/replies. Use this before significant research investment.

A comprehensive guide for executing and reporting quantitative, computational, or experimental analyses for top-tier academic journals (e.g., BJPS). It outlines stringent norms for ensuring methodological rigor, transparency, and reproducibility, covering topics like uncertainty reporting, robustness testing, and measurement equivalence. This skill is essential when structuring the results section of a manuscript, particularly when facing expert peer review or preparing for data deposition.

A comprehensive guide to pressure-test whether a political science project meets the broad, general-interest criteria of the British Journal of Political Science (BJPS). It helps users frame their research question and contribution to maximize its appeal beyond single-country or subfield limitations, advising on optimal format choice and scope definition.

A comprehensive guide for authors receiving a revise-and-resubmit decision. It outlines the strategic planning, required new analyses (robustness, identification tests), and structured writing process needed to draft a rigorous, point-by-point rebuttal letter, ensuring data integrity and compliance with journal standards.

This guide outlines the comprehensive process for submitting and evaluating Computer Aided Verification (CAV) research artifacts. It details the criteria for earning three badges (Available, Functional, Reusable), the two-phase review structure (smoke-test and full review), and best practices for packaging scientific tools, including the use of containers, pinned benchmarks, resource limits, and proof witnesses. This ensures reproducibility and rigor in academic research.

Provides comprehensive guidelines for statistical analysis and reporting in biological manuscripts, particularly in cancer research. It teaches researchers how to correctly define 'n' (distinguishing biological from technical replicates), select appropriate statistical tests (ANOVA, survival analysis, etc.), and manage multiple comparisons, ensuring high scientific rigor and reproducibility in published data.

This skill guides researchers through the critical pre-writing process of evaluating a scientific finding's scope, mechanistic depth, and significance. It stress-tests whether the work constitutes a complete, hypothesis-driven story suitable for top-tier journals, helping authors determine if they need to strengthen the mechanism, collect more converging evidence, or adjust their target journal venue.

A comprehensive guide to establishing credible causal identification strategies for economic empirical research. It covers advanced quasi-experimental methods such as Difference-in-Differences (DID), Instrumental Variables (IV), and Regression Discontinuity (RDD), alongside structural modeling. The core principle emphasizes the necessity of explicitly stating, empirically defending, and testing all identification assumptions to meet the rigorous standards of top-tier academic economics journals.
