This guide provides comprehensive guidelines for formatting academic manuscripts, specifically for Critical Inquiry (CI) submissions. It strictly adheres to the Chicago Manual of Style (17th ed.), mandating the use of consecutively numbered footnotes and eliminating the need for a separate works-cited list. It also covers best practices for submitting high-resolution figures (300 ppi JPEG/TIFF) and managing citations to ensure they contribute effectively to the word count and scholarly argument.

This comprehensive guide serves as the final pre-submission checklist for publishing in Critical Inquiry (CI). It details crucial, often overlooked requirements—such as adhering to strict word counts (including notes and bibliography), using Microsoft Word format, following Chicago 17th footnotes (no works-cited list), providing separate, high-resolution images, and confirming single-submission status. Using this checklist minimizes common publication errors before hitting 'submit' on Editorial Manager.

This skill guide teaches how to polish complex academic prose for high-level journals, focusing on achieving an ambitious, lucid, and precise writing style. It emphasizes tightening style and discipline—ensuring clarity, maintaining a controlled academic voice, and adhering strictly to word limits (e.g., 9,500 words). It is designed to elevate the text's rhetorical quality without inventing new arguments or evidence.

This skill converts Microsoft Word documents (.docx) into Markdown format. It is essential for accurately analyzing, summarizing, or extracting data from proprietary Word files, as direct parsing is unreliable. It supports single files, batch processing of folders, and is designed to coordinate with sibling skills (PDF and Excel) when handling mixed document types to ensure no data is skipped.

This comprehensive guide provides authors with a critical preflight checklist for submitting academic manuscripts to major journals (e.g., SAGE Track). It ensures compliance with strict guidelines, covering anonymization, word count adherence, abstract structure, ORCID linking, and robust data availability statements. Use this tool to minimize the risk of desk rejection due to formatting or procedural errors.

This guide helps authors structure, refine, and polish academic manuscripts for Comparative Political Studies (CPS) journals. It ensures the prose is tightly focused, the argument is stated clearly from the start, and the paper adheres to the specific house formatting (e.g., 11,000-word limit, unstructured abstract, APA style). It improves readability and structure without altering the core analysis.

A comprehensive guide for authors preparing manuscripts for CSCW submission. It covers critical pre-upload steps including verifying the current submission pathway, adhering to single-column ACM templates, managing word length scrutiny, ensuring full anonymity (author and setting), confirming ethics statements, and mitigating common desk-risk pitfalls before final submission.
