Skill UI

This skill provides comprehensive guidance for authors submitting manuscripts to Environment International. It focuses on the rigorous connection between measured environmental exposures (including the exposome, contaminants, and mixtures) and quantifiable, population-relevant human health outcomes or risks. It covers methodology requirements, epidemiological rigor, and journal-specific formatting standards to improve manuscript suitability and reduce desk rejection risk.

A comprehensive guide for authors assessing the suitability of environmental health, toxicology, or epidemiology manuscripts for Environmental Health Perspectives (EHP). It emphasizes the need for strong public-health significance, rigorous methodology, and clear policy relevance, guiding authors on framing, statistical rigor, and structure.

This comprehensive guide helps authors determine the suitability and necessary framing for research related to environmental contamination. It mandates moving beyond simple pollutant detection, requiring rigorous evidence to connect contaminants to their fate, transport, and demonstrable ecological or human health impact. Essential for method validation, QA/QC, and scientific rigor.

This comprehensive guide helps researchers evaluate whether a clinical or health-services study is appropriate for publication in JAMA Internal Medicine. It details the journal's high bar for methodological rigor, including requirements for randomized trials (CONSORT), observational studies (STROBE), and systematic reviews (PRISMA). It covers everything from study design and statistical reporting to addressing potential desk-reject triggers, ensuring authors submit high-quality, impactful research.

This comprehensive skill guides authors on preparing and refining child and adolescent health studies for submission to JAMA Pediatrics. It covers scope fit, advanced methodological requirements (e.g., age-appropriate outcomes, CONSORT/STROBE), pediatric ethics (assent/consent), and specific journal house style, ensuring manuscripts meet the high standards of major academic publishing.

A comprehensive guide for rigorous causal inference in health policy research. It details advanced econometric methodologies—including Difference-in-Differences (DiD), Regression Discontinuity Design (RDD), and Instrumental Variables (IV)—and addresses critical issues like selection bias and institutional realism. This resource helps ensure that empirical claims meet the highest standards required by top-tier health economics journals.

A comprehensive guide for authors submitting to health economics journals, focusing on pre-submission pre-mortem analysis. It teaches how to anticipate specific, expert-level critiques—such as selection bias, concurrent confounding, or econometric limitations—and proactively structure the manuscript to neutralize these objections before they are raised by reviewers.

A comprehensive guide for assembling reproducible research packages using restricted health data, such as Medicare claims or EHR data. This package focuses not on running the analysis, but on establishing a credible data access path, creating detailed Data Availability Statements (DAS), and ensuring code is shared and reproducible, which is crucial for publishing in health economics journals.

Provides a comprehensive framework for conducting and reporting robustness checks in health economics studies. It guides authors to organize findings by addressing specific threats to the core claim (e.g., selection bias, concurrent policy changes, measurement error) rather than simply appending multiple specifications. Essential for ensuring results are stable and defensible for top-tier journal submissions.

A comprehensive preflight guide for submitting manuscripts to the Journal of Health Economics (JHE) via Elsevier Editorial Manager. This checklist ensures compliance with specific journal requirements, covering single-anonymization, data availability statements, keyword formatting, and required declarations (e.g., funding, AI usage). Use it as the final check before pressing submit.

A comprehensive guide detailing best practices for constructing rigorous and legible tables and figures for health economics manuscripts, particularly for the Journal of Health Economics (JHE). It covers presentation requirements for main policy estimates, identification figures (e.g., event studies, RD plots), and descriptive institutional exhibits, ensuring that the health setting and causal effects are immediately apparent to expert readers.

A comprehensive guide for constructing and applying structural models in health economics, particularly for interpreting empirical estimates or running policy counterfactuals. It covers core archetypes—including demand-selection, provider incentives, and human capital—and emphasizes critical rigor, such as parameter identification, adherence to institutional rules (e.g., risk adjustment), and defending policy-invariance (Lucas critique).
