This guide provides comprehensive instructions for authors submitting to the American Journal of Sociology (AJS). It details AJS's unique house style (which is NOT the ASA style guide), covering citation mechanics, note formatting, reference lists, and manuscript structure. Crucially, it advises writers on how to structure their arguments to be theoretically ambitious and legible to a generalist audience, ensuring the core contribution is immediately apparent.

A comprehensive guide for addressing rigorous academic peer review feedback, especially for top-tier journals. It provides a structured, point-by-point framework for authors to revise their work, focusing on strengthening the core theoretical framework, integrating coverage gaps, establishing critical attitude, and maintaining scholarly balance. Use this when responding to major revisions or full-review referee reports.

A comprehensive guide for authors addressing revise-and-resubmit (R&R) decisions for top-tier academic journals like the American Anthropologist. This framework teaches how to structure a diplomatic, point-by-point response that manages reviewer disagreements (especially cross-subfield conflicts), protects the core ethnographic contribution, and maintains ethical standards while guiding the editor toward acceptance.

A comprehensive guide detailing the rigorous review process of major academic journals, using the American Anthropologist (AA) as a model. Learn about editorial screening, the requirements for four-field significance, anonymous peer review, and incorporating an ethics of care framework. This tool helps authors structure their manuscripts to anticipate and mitigate common rejection pitfalls.

This skill guides researchers to pressure-test their anthropological project's suitability for a major journal like American Anthropologist (AA). It emphasizes achieving "four-field reach"—ensuring the findings matter broadly to all subfields (sociocultural, archaeology, biological, linguistic)—rather than being merely novel within a single niche. Use it before committing to fieldwork or writing to assess global impact, theoretical contribution, and ethical rigor.

A comprehensive guide for authors targeting the American Economic Review (AER). This skill helps authors assess whether their economics manuscript meets AER's high bar for general interest, methodological rigor, and structural presentation. It covers journal positioning, identification strategy, required modern inference techniques, and how to re-frame niche field papers for a broad disciplinary audience.

This skill provides a comprehensive fit assessment and checklist for clinical research targeting The American Journal of Gastroenterology. It guides authors on required evidence levels, reporting standards (e.g., CONSORT, STROBE), structuring the manuscript, and ensuring the study has clear, practice-relevant clinical implications for GI/Hepatology practitioners. It serves as a crucial pre-submission refinement aid.

A comprehensive guide for authors submitting clinical or translational research to the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AJOG). It provides detailed criteria on scope fit, required methodologies (e.g., CONSORT, STROBE), ethical considerations (especially pregnancy-research ethics), and house style requirements, ensuring the study meets the journal's high clinical importance standard.

This skill provides a comprehensive guide for adapting research manuscripts for the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (AJRCCM). It assesses a study's scientific fit across the spectrum of basic science, translational research, and clinical trials. It ensures adherence to rigorous reporting guidelines (e.g., CONSORT, STROBE, ARRIVE) and the journal's specific house style, helping authors significantly improve their submission readiness.

This guide helps researchers structure their discussion section and manuscript to explicitly articulate the theoretical contribution, moving beyond simple results reporting. It teaches how to identify, claim, and frame various types of theoretical advancements (e.g., new mechanisms, boundaries, or integrating literatures), ensuring the paper meets the high standards of top-tier academic journals like AMJ.

This guide provides a comprehensive framework for conducting rigorous statistical analysis and ensuring methodological validity for empirical manuscripts. It covers establishing measurement validity (CFA, reliability), selecting appropriate estimators (SEM, HLM, IV), addressing biases (CMB, endogeneity), and robust reporting of complex effects (mediation, moderation) required for top-tier academic journals.

Provides a structured guide for positioning academic manuscripts within ongoing theoretical debates. It teaches authors how to move beyond simple 'gap-spotting' by identifying tensions, challenging assumptions (problematization), or testing boundaries between established theories. Essential for improving the theoretical rigor and argumentation of submissions to top-tier management journals.
