A comprehensive guide for constructing non-empirical, theoretical figures for sociological theory manuscripts. It details how to design conceptual exhibits—including mechanism diagrams, process models, typologies, and concept maps—that carry theoretical work. Crucially, it emphasizes that these figures must illustrate mechanisms or classifications, and must never include raw data, regression tables, or empirical results.

This guide outlines the rigorous, step-by-step process for constructing a robust sociological theory. It ensures academic rigor by requiring the explicit definition of concepts (including extension and distinction), stating underlying assumptions, specifying the social mechanisms that drive relationships, and deriving internally consistent theoretical propositions. It is essential for transforming raw ideas into a structured, defensible academic manuscript.

This guide provides expert advice on structuring and writing the 'Related Work' section for top-tier systems conferences (like SOSP/OSDI). It emphasizes shifting from simple citation lists to structural positioning, requiring authors to identify precise differences (e.g., assumption, mechanism, guarantee) between their work and existing research. It also covers academic lineage tracing, double-blind citation rules, and handling concurrent work.

This comprehensive guide helps researchers defend their complex study designs—whether they involve lab experiments, large-scale surveys, or qualitative observations—against rigorous methodological critique. It emphasizes establishing a clear, credible link between theoretical mechanisms and empirical evidence, focusing specifically on the structure-individual link. It covers advanced inference techniques, identifying potential confounding variables, and articulating the design's limitations.

This guide helps researchers structure a compelling theoretical argument for social science manuscripts, particularly those in social psychology. It emphasizes elevating mere findings into robust theoretical contributions by explicitly defining the social-psychological mechanism that connects macro social structures, processes, or interactions to individual levels (self, cognition, emotion). It guides users through defining scope conditions, observable implications, and the core structure–individual link.

This guide provides rigorous guidelines for integrating various forms of empirical evidence—including quantitative data, qualitative case studies, and historical comparisons—into advanced social science manuscripts. It emphasizes that evidence must actively support or test the core proposition, requiring authors to translate raw findings into conceptual insights and mechanisms, rather than simply presenting methods or data.

This tool guides the transformation of academic manuscripts, particularly in the social sciences, from a policy-report or work-summary tone into a rigorous scholarly argument. It helps users replace vague slogans and empty claims with concrete theoretical mechanisms, ensuring the writing maintains a scholarly, restrained, and macro-perspective, and that every paragraph centers on a discernible core proposition.

This guide instructs researchers on how to build robust, theoretically grounded economic mechanisms and derive testable predictions for accounting and finance research. It covers the methodologies required for archival, analytical, and experimental papers, ensuring claims move beyond mere correlation to establish clear causal economic channels.

This comprehensive guide helps authors determine if their microbial ecology manuscript is suitable for The ISME Journal. It details the journal's focus on ecological and evolutionary mechanisms, outlining expectations for multi-omics integration, rigorous experimental design, and high-level evidence. Use this skill for venue selection, manuscript re-framing, and understanding the required standards for publication.

A comprehensive guide for designing, auditing, and reporting advanced statistical and causal inference experiments. It emphasizes moving beyond simple accuracy metrics to quantify uncertainty, model robustness, and causal mechanisms. Covers metrics like coverage, KL divergence, and regret, and outlines best practices for seeding, compute fairness, and creating standardized reporting blocks (e.g., UAI standards).

A comprehensive guide for authors submitting interactive system papers to UIST. It details the required narrative arc (walkthrough before mechanism), emphasizes technical specificity in implementation details, and provides rules for designing figures and structuring the argument within strict page limits.

A comprehensive guide for positioning research papers for top-tier security conferences like USENIX Security. It covers defining coverage against 'Big-Four' and specialty venues, ensuring novelty across multi-cycle academic pipelines, identifying mechanism-level differentiators, and mastering double-blind citation mechanics for maximum impact.
