This comprehensive guide outlines best practices for designing data systems evaluations, ensuring results are robust, reproducible, and convincing to expert reviewers. It covers workload realism, baseline fairness, necessary ablation studies, and advanced metric visualization techniques (e.g., sweeping curves, failure analysis) required for top-tier data systems research.

A comprehensive guide for authors submitting to top-tier database conferences (like SIGMOD) on how to position their research. It covers deep-history diligence, managing concurrent work, and structuring the related-work section using contrast-form writing to establish clear novelty claims against multiple literature lines, including industrial systems and theoretical boundaries.

A comprehensive guide for authors in data systems and related fields on achieving rigorous, verifiable reproducibility for academic papers. It mandates detailing the provenance of every claimed result by pinning five critical layers: code version, configuration parameters, dataset source, workload characteristics, and hardware specifications. Best practices include reporting distributions (e.g., percentiles, variance) and maintaining a detailed 'repro debt ledger' to withstand intense peer review.

This guide provides an in-depth breakdown of the academic research paper review cycle, using top-tier database conferences (like SIGMOD) as a case study. It covers the double-anonymous review process, the author feedback phase, interpreting the Accept/Reject/Revise verdicts, and navigating the post-decision revision window and embargo rules. Essential knowledge for authors preparing submissions to top-tier conference proceedings.

A comprehensive methodological guide for researchers submitting data management papers. It helps users assess if their contribution is a fundamental system advance or merely an application. The guide provides detailed decision frameworks and comparisons between top-tier venues like SIGMOD, PVLDB, KDD, and PODS, ensuring the focus remains on the core data-management primitive.

This guide provides a comprehensive workflow for managing complex, multi-year academic research projects targeting large, multi-round conferences (like SIGMOD). It details the five-act publication cycle, strategies for round selection under embargo periods, backward planning from paper cutoffs, and essential team coordination practices for sustained research development.

A comprehensive guide for structuring and refining high-quality database systems research papers for top-tier conferences like SIGMOD. It covers essential components such as establishing a clear page-one contract, integrating running examples, scoping measured system claims, adopting third-person voice, and adhering to the 12-page ACM template structure for maximum technical impact.

A comprehensive guide for academic authors on how to sharpen and frame their research contributions for top-tier strategy journals. It teaches authors to move beyond simply listing findings, focusing instead on articulating a genuine theoretical advance, defining the 'so what' for both strategy scholars and practitioners, and maintaining consistency across the manuscript (Introduction, Theory, Discussion).

A comprehensive guide for addressing endogeneity, selection bias, and reverse causality in empirical research, specifically tailored for top-tier journals. It details advanced econometric methods (DID, IV, PSM, Heckman) and outlines best practices for conducting rigorous robustness checks, ensuring that identified effects are genuinely causal, not merely correlated.

This guide teaches researchers how to move beyond basic literature reviews by positioning their work within a specific, ongoing scholarly debate. It provides a framework to identify the core scholarly 'conversation,' pinpoint the theoretical gap (mechanism or tension), and articulate a novel move that advances the field's understanding, crucial for high-impact academic journal submissions.

This comprehensive guide provides methodological frameworks for designing rigorous empirical studies in strategic management. It covers defining the sample, selecting the unit of analysis, validating key measures (performance and strategic choices), and critically, implementing robust identification designs (e.g., DID, IV, Fixed Effects) to address endogeneity and establish causal claims.

This comprehensive checklist guides authors through the final pre-submission process for manuscripts targeting the Strategic Management Journal (SMJ). It covers critical steps such as implementing double-blind anonymization, structuring the mandatory dual abstracts (research and managerial), verifying APA formatting, and ensuring all required files (cover letter, supplements) are prepared before submission.
