This guide helps researchers understand the rigorous standards for publishing in the highly prestigious and cross-disciplinary journal, Social Sciences in China. It emphasizes that the core contribution must be theoretical depth, addressing major societal issues, and developing original concepts, rather than merely demonstrating advanced empirical techniques or niche findings.

A comprehensive methodology guide for qualitative researchers in sociology. It teaches how to move beyond mere description by systematically extracting, defining, and bounding core concepts from empirical field materials. This process involves iterative dialogue between observations and existing sociological theory, ensuring the concept is theoretically robust and transferable.

A comprehensive guide for authors to determine if their manuscript tackles fundamental sociological problems (mechanism, structure, process) or if it is merely a policy evaluation. It helps authors avoid submitting to the wrong journal, ensuring their research advances theoretical sociological understanding.

A sophisticated guide for social science researchers to transition from empirical evidence (coefficients, fieldwork notes) to robust, theory-driven narrative. It teaches how to structure an argument by identifying the four core components: Actioner, Structural Condition, Mechanism, and Consequence. This method ensures the explanation moves beyond mere correlation to deeply explain *how* and *why* social outcomes are generated or reproduced.

This guide outlines the rigorous standards and methodologies for qualitative social science research (e.g., ethnography, in-depth interviews, case studies, grounded theory). It emphasizes moving beyond mere story-telling to concept building, ensuring methodological rigor, coding transparency, and theoretical dialogue to meet high academic standards.

This guide teaches researchers how to elevate a literature review from a mere list of empirical findings to a genuine, theory-driven academic dialogue. It helps users position their research problem within established sociological traditions (e.g., stratification, networks, institutions) and clearly articulate their theoretical contribution (inheriting, modifying, or integrating existing theories).

This guide helps researchers navigate the complex double-anonymous peer review process for sociological theory. It teaches users how to interpret confusing decision letters, identify conceptual gaps, and triage reviewer feedback based on the journal's focus on theoretical contribution, conceptual novelty, and logical soundness. It is essential for deciding if a manuscript revision (R&R) is viable.

This guide helps researchers determine if their academic idea constitutes a genuine theoretical problem suitable for a specialized theory journal, rather than an empirical study or a simple literature review. It screens for conceptual advances, teaching users to distinguish between mere topics, data-driven findings, and deep theoretical gaps. Use this when you have an intuition or critique but are unsure of the theoretical depth or appropriate academic venue.

This guide provides a comprehensive framework for positioning theoretical algorithms research in top-tier venues like SODA. It details how to conduct a rigorous "related work" review, covering bound lineages across conference proceedings, journal publications, and arXiv preprints. Learn best practices for citing dual-version results, managing priority claims, and writing scholarly prose to establish your result's state-of-the-art status.

This guide provides researchers with a critical framework for determining if their work on algorithms, data structures, and discrete mathematics is suitable for SODA (ACM-SIAM Symposium on Discrete Algorithms). It outlines a rigorous three-question fit test, offers a routing map to comparable specialized venues (like STOC or FOCS), and clarifies the specific academic pattern required for a submission to be considered novel and impactful to an algorithms expert.

This guide details the precise writing standards for submitting top-tier algorithms research papers to major conferences. It covers structuring the headline, writing a compelling abstract, developing a clear overview, presenting prior-bound comparison tables, and maintaining rigorous prose discipline to ensure maximum impact and clarity for expert reviewers.

This guide details the structured process for preparing and evaluating research artifacts for major academic conferences like SOSP. It covers badge targeting (Functional, Reusable), cooperative evaluation expectations, and best practices for packaging system-level artifacts, including defining tiers (runnable, provided-hardware, documented-only) and conducting 'kick-the-tires' smoke tests.
