This guide provides a rigorous, step-by-step framework for developing robust academic theories, particularly for prestigious journals like the Academy of Management Review (AMR). It shifts the focus from simple assertions to a structured argument by requiring explicit definition of constructs (including domain and scope), stating underlying assumptions, specifying relationship forms (e.g., mediating, causal), articulating the mechanism (the 'why'), and formulating falsifiable, numbered propositions. Mastering this process ensures the theory is comprehensive and academically sound.

This comprehensive workflow guides authors through the complex, multi-stage process of developing a purely theoretical contribution for an Academy of Management Review (AMR) submission. It acts as a router, directing the user to specific specialized skills at each point of the scholarly writing process, from topic selection to contribution framing and final polish. It emphasizes that the deliverable is pure theory, not empirical data.

This comprehensive guide helps authors evaluate the suitability of their manuscript for the Annual Review of Economics. It outlines the journal's specific high standards for scholarly synthesis, emphasizing that the content must provide a balanced, expert intellectual map of an entire subfield, rather than presenting new original empirical results. Use this skill to check fit, understand the invited submission process, and structure a comprehensive review for a broad, educated professional audience.

This guide provides an in-depth understanding of the American Journal of Sociology's (AJS) unique, rigorous, and double-blind manuscript review process. It details the student-run assignment board, the mandatory "preject" screening for relevance, and what reviewers critically evaluate—including theoretical payoff, methodological rigor, and dialogue with current sociology. Use this pre-submission guide to stress-test your work and set realistic expectations for revision rounds.

A comprehensive guide detailing the rigorous academic review process for submissions to elite journals. It covers initial editor triage, double-anonymized refereeing by interdisciplinary experts, interpreting complex decision letters, and diagnosing failure points (scope, theory, evidence). Learn how to anticipate critiques and structure effective revisions for publication.

This skill acts as a comprehensive router for managing the entire manuscript development lifecycle for Accounting, Organizations and Society (AOS). It guides users through the necessary stages—from initial topic selection and theoretical framing to data analysis, drafting, and responding to reviewer feedback. It is designed to help users determine the next specialized skill required at any point in the academic publishing process.

This guide assists researchers in strengthening the methodological rigor of academic work, particularly in political science. It provides structured methods for defending research design, covering rigorous causal identification for quantitative work (e.g., DiD, IV, RDD) and systematic case selection/process tracing for qualitative analysis. Use this when facing reviewer skepticism or preparing a pre-analysis plan to ensure the evidence credibly connects to the theoretical argument.

This guide provides a comprehensive deep dive into the rigorous academic review process of the American Political Science Review (APSR). It details the mechanics of double-anonymous review, the three primary grounds for desk-rejection (remit, ethics, substance), and the strategic implications of various decision categories. It is essential for authors to pre-empt failure modes and structure their work for maximum acceptance chances before submission.

This tool serves as the central entry point and orchestrator for drafting an American Political Science Review (APSR) manuscript. It guides authors through the complex academic publishing lifecycle by determining the paper's specific track (e.g., Regular Article, Synthesis, Registered Report) and its current developmental stage (e.g., Idea, Theory, Data Analysis). It does not draft content; rather, it routes the user to the most relevant sub-skill for the next step in the writing process.

A comprehensive guide detailing the unique process of proposing a research topic to the Annual Review of Economics (ARE). It explains that ARE operates on a commissioning basis, guiding authors on how to structure a compelling, committee-ready topic pitch—focusing on the organizing spine, required scope, and market rationale—rather than submitting a finished manuscript.

This guide details the complete post-delivery review cycle for invited Annual Reviews of Economics (ARE) articles. It sets clear expectations regarding the annual publication cadence, the high standards for accuracy, rigor, and balance, and outlines the stages from committee review through final production. It is essential reading for authors needing to understand the non-rolling, annual nature of the publication timeline.

This framework guides the creation of high-impact academic literature reviews, transforming a mere annotated bibliography into a cohesive, argumentative essay. It helps researchers impose a unifying 'spine'—such as a taxonomy, process model, or levels of analysis—to make complex psychological fields legible and accessible to non-specialist readers. Ideal for synthesizing scattered research into a single, powerful argument.
