Skill UI

This skill guides researchers on assessing if their academic project fits the scope and standards of a major social science journal. It provides a rigorous framework to test for general significance, methodological credibility, theoretical contribution, and adherence to strict word limits, helping authors effectively frame their work for a broad academic audience.

This tool acts as an orchestrator for academic manuscripts targeting general social-science journals. It guides authors through the entire writing and revision lifecycle, ensuring the paper maintains a general audience focus and adheres to strict structural constraints, such as 10,000-word limits (including references) and 10 figure/table panels. It routes the user to the most necessary next skill, whether for initial topic selection, theoretical positioning, research design, or final rebuttal.

A comprehensive guide for researchers deciding if their networking contribution (mechanism, architecture, or protocol) is a strong fit for SIGCOMM. It provides criteria for distinguishing between research novelty and real-world experience, and routes the work to similar top venues like NSDI, MobiCom, and IMC based on the core technical signal.

This skill assists researchers in strategically positioning their computer graphics and visualization research. It evaluates whether a contribution is truly "graphics-shaped" (demanding visual results and advancing graphics axes) and recommends the optimal venue (e.g., SIGGRAPH, CVPR, CHI, EGSR) and submission track (Dual-track or Journal-only) based on the nature and maturity of the work. It provides a crucial, high-leverage decision framework before committing to a submission.

This comprehensive guide assists researchers in determining the core contribution of their Information Retrieval (IR) work. It provides structured tests to decide whether the contribution lies in retrieval quality or the downstream system. Users learn how to select the appropriate SIGIR track (Full, Short, Resources, etc.) or route their work to neighboring venues like NLP/ML, RecSys, or CHIIR.

This guide helps researchers determine the most appropriate venue (e.g., SIGMETRICS, NSDI, IMC, NeurIPS) for their computer systems performance evaluation research. It emphasizes that contributions must be rigorous performance-evaluation results—such as proven models, principled measurements, or guaranteed learning algorithms—rather than merely built systems or pure network measurements.

A comprehensive methodological guide for researchers submitting data management papers. It helps users assess if their contribution is a fundamental system advance or merely an application. The guide provides detailed decision frameworks and comparisons between top-tier venues like SIGMOD, PVLDB, KDD, and PODS, ensuring the focus remains on the core data-management primitive.

This comprehensive guide helps researchers determine if their academic research question aligns with the scope and criteria of top-tier strategic management journals (e.g., SMJ). It provides a multi-part fit test covering strategic DNA, unit of analysis (firm-level), theoretical stakes, and empirical identification challenges. It guides authors on sharpening their questions and choosing the correct specialized journal (SMJ, SEJ, GSJ).

This guide helps researchers determine if their paper constitutes a genuine methodological contribution suitable for SMR. It teaches authors to distinguish between purely applied analyses and theoretical breakthroughs by mastering three modes: Developing new methods, Evaluating existing methods, or Critically assessing assumptions. The core goal is ensuring the method itself is the primary takeaway, not the substantive finding.

This guide helps researchers determine the ideal venue for their cloud computing research paper. It outlines the architectural boundaries between pure systems (OSDI/SOSP), pure data management (SIGMOD/VLDB), and the systems-data intersection (SoCC). It provides crucial tests, such as the model-swap and re-label tests, and advises on necessary evidence maturity (measurement studies, experience papers) to ensure a high chance of acceptance.

This guide helps researchers determine if their academic idea constitutes a genuine theoretical problem suitable for a specialized theory journal, rather than an empirical study or a simple literature review. It screens for conceptual advances, teaching users to distinguish between mere topics, data-driven findings, and deep theoretical gaps. Use this when you have an intuition or critique but are unsure of the theoretical depth or appropriate academic venue.

This router guides the entire lifecycle of a Sociological Theory (ST) manuscript, from initial topic selection to final submission and revision. It does not replace specialized skills but directs the user to the correct next step, ensuring the conceptual advance is properly framed, argued, and polished for high-level academic journals. Essential for structuring complex theoretical contributions.
